- Outlook >> Direct booking a calendar in ExchangeDoes anyone know a way to direct book a resource in Exchange, but
before the resource is officially booked, require a resource
administrator to approve it?
For example, I want to Book Conference Room A.
In the way that KB 291616 describes, but before the room is actually
booked, I need one more step - an approval by the "owner" of the
resource.
Is this possible?

- Calendaring >> Outlook 2000 abends if view/add appointmentUse Outlook 2000 with Windows 98. Have uninstalled using CD, then downloaded
and further uninstalled with eraser2000.exe. Reinstalled. Have done this 4
or 5 times. Something is being left behind, probably in registry. How can I
force OUtlook to totally reload?
Note: Unlinked the pst file, started up with empty pst; Same problem with
calendar.
NO malware now found by HJT, Ad-Aaware, Norton (deleted on ebad SearchHook)
Calendar is NOT corrupted: exported to CSV, imported without problem

- Outlook >> Outlook Slow LoadI'm running WIN XP & Outlook XP.
When I used to run Outlook, it would pop up almost
instantly. Now it takes over 2 minutes for the hour-glass
to disappear.
I have a tiny start-up list and this happens even before
I run any other application.
Any thoughts on what might make it take so long and what
might fix it?

- Outlook >> Outgoing email OL2003I have a several domains that I use for email. All
domains work well except for one. My ISP is a Cox Cable
and they require me to use their out going smtp. I have
one domain name that is set up with as
mail.domainname.org, using the isp's smtp; when I test
the account it sends the email and I recieve the message
with no issue. When I go to send an email the standard
way, it never goes through. I get an error message that
my smtp server times out, and no matter how long I set
the time out length for, it still times out within 45
seconds. Not sure why it test fine, but will not send
when I use that account. Any help would be appreciated.

- Outlook >> This has EVERYTHING to do with the recent microsoft updateI installed the damn thing today and after system reboot my Outlook
2007 lost both the ability to connect to an Exchange server and send/
receive on POP accounts. This is outrageous!!!!!!!!!!
I installed 3 updates today:Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 Service Pack
1 (KB110806); Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0 Service Pack 1 (KB929300);
and finally the 2007 Microsoft Office Suite Service Pack 1 (SP1). Now
I may be wrong, but this SP1 is probably the one causing the problem.
Microsoft, learn to make patches that work and don't ruin
things!!!!!!!!

- Outlook General >> Blank e-mails cause errors in OutlookHello, I have read all about blank e-mails and how to set rules, but Outlook
2003 will not bring them in from my server so that I can set a rule for them.
Instead, I get an error message saying that Outlook cannot connect to the
server. Then I go to my web-based e-mail (Horde) and see that there is a
blank e-mail. The sender is nbsp;. Once this happens, the only way to
resolve it is delete the e-mail in Horde and then all of the other e-mails
that are also sitting in Horder will go into Outlook. This is happening 5 to
6 times a day.
TIA,
Robin

- Outlook General >> Why do my font colors change in Outlook?Help please - this behavior is driving me crazy!
I have two email accounts in Outlook. One works just fine but recently the
other one has started exhibiting strange behavior.
When I reply to a message, one time the font colors and signature will
change to plum, the next time they will be olive, next green, etc. I use Word
as my editor and I've treid making changes to both Outlook and Word to
correct but nothings worked so far.
I have done everything I know to do - searched Knowledge Base, deleted
Normal.dot and let system recreate, deleted the plum, olive, green, etc.
styles, I've run Detect and Repair.
I thought this might be caused by malicious code but I run ZoneAlarm, Norton
AV 2005 and AdAware in the background and run full scans every night. My
system is clean.
Has anyone ever had this problem? Any ideas?
Thanks for any help.

Why? Outlook 97 could not read HTML formatted mail, and the Outlook 98 free
upgrade patch has been gone for over three years now.

- Outlook General >> Can Outlook and Access be synchronized?I have developed a Membership database in MS Access 2000. I can open Outlook
from a button I created on the members record Form but all it does is open
the Outlook Program. I would like to be able to email and have the members
emails be tracked by Outlook. I would also like to be able to use calendar
for appointments and have this tracked by outlook. Is this something that is
commonly done? If so, does it work well?

- Outlook General >> Reply/Forward Font Problem OL2003I have a strange problem on only one computer. When the user clicks Reply
or Forward on a message, Outlook 2003 opens a message box normally but the
fonts (both for the text of the received message and the default text of his
outgoing message) are very small (probably about 2 point). All of the
settings in Outlook and Word (Word is the e-mail editor) show 12 pt. Arial
as the font to use for Replies and Forwards. I have changed this setting to
a different font and different size, but the problem remains. The
Stationery settings are set to use his fonts when replying and forwarding.
The problem does not exist for creating a new message; only replying and
forwarding an existing message. Everything was fine until about a week ago.
I have been through the settings with a fine-toothed comb and everything is
exactly as it was originally setup. I have repaired and reinstalled Outlook
and the problem remains. I have NOT uninstalled completely and reinstalled.
I'm hoping I don't have to do that.
Any ideas?
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks. James

- Outlook >> Outlook: from Exchange to stand alone versionSetup: Dell PowerEdge 600SC server with Microsoft Exchange and Windows 2000
Server. Desktops running XP and Outlook 2003 (part of MS Office 2003 Basic
Edition).
Due to circumstances we will move away from our LAN and Exchange server. So
my OL2003 will become a stand alone version that does not connect to the
Exchange server anymore. (All of my email accounts are POP accounts.)
1. I was wondering if this can be done and how? I tried a couple of searches
in Google but did not really find the answer.
2. Seconldy I have made a checklist and I was hoping for some feedback in
case I left something out?
- export messages using Genie backup and outlook contacts from exchange and
import in stand alone outlook
2003.
- same for outlook message rules
- manually create my POP email accounts in the new outlook 2003 stand alone?
Is there anything else I have to bear in mind?
TIA.

- Outlook >> Outlook 2002 email filterI am getting about 100 emails every day with some bogus update from
Microsoft. My problem lies with the rules wizard. The rules description
must use the word "and" instead of "or" when looking for word filters in the
message. So, if I tell it to filter the word Microsoft, that word must
appear in the senders address, subject and body.
Help - Thanks.

- Outlook General >> Sync Outlook with Hand HeldWhen Syncing my hand held with outlook it seems that outlook over rides the
fields that have been changed and puts the old information back. Is there a
way to sync a hand held with outlook so if the data has been updated it
updates those fields in outlook?
Also vise versa if I have updated the fields in outlook and I sync it to my
palm is there a way to make sure the changed fields show up on the palm. I
know this is how it is supposed to work, but for some reason it is not
working correctly. All updated informatin reverts to old data when the two
are synced.

- IE6&Outlook >> Spam Messages - From: NamesI receive a lot of spam where the From line is a person's name, e.g.. john
smith, w/o the @ part of email addresses. Some of the names don't even read
like real names but they are two word entries. I don't see any kind of
filter in OE 6 that would allow me to stop the email that comes in with
names only in the From line. Have I overlooked a tool here?
Thanks
