spellcheck problems

Using Outlook 2000, Win xp

My spell checker no longer works, it returns the following error msg.

"The spelling operation could not be conpleted. The work is too long for the

dictionary."

This happens on every msg no matter how long or short, and it shows up prior

to emails being sent when trying to spell check.

I have used Tools, to detect and repair and tried reinstalling from the disk

all to no avail, can't figure this one out.
