- Outlook General >> Can I download outlook to upgrade my existing outlook express?I work in a very small office (6 people) and our email is set-up using
Outlook Express. We have discussed internally, wanting to have regular
Outlook to be able to share profile information such as meetings,
appointments, due dates, etc. Is there a way to download outlook via the MS
website to upgrade my (our) existing outlook express?

- IE6&Outlook >> McAfee & Problem Downloading MailHi Gurus......
I am asking this question for my really newbie brother-in-law. It obviously
seems to be a McAfee problem, but as he never tells me half the details, I
am flying a bit blind. OE worked fine since Xmas, but this has just
started. He is using XP.
He can download his email into OE6 if there are no viruses in it. But if
there are any Netskys, etc., OE won't download any of the mail. So I have
set him up with Mailwasher and he is deleting them that way.
However....*he says*......McAfee Tech Support (cough) had him download
Stinger and he was clean. Now they want him to run a scan in DOS and he
doesn't have a clue what DOS is. He does have a long list of instructions
though, grin.
I told him if he could download Stinger from the McAfee website, then he was
probably not infected. I was going to tell him how to get to Safe Mode, but
I use WinME, not XP......same method??
Any thoughts on this? Baffles me.
Cheers from the Great White North......Figgs/Heather

- Outlook General >> Send and Receive errorsI have a client that when he chooses a certain user from the internal company to send to, the email, periodically, gets sent to everyone in the company. Looked at distribution and security. All looks OK.
This user sending the mail has rights to see everyones mail. Nobody else has this option.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

- Outlook >> To many RecipientsI received a message with multiple "to many recipients".
I checked my ISP and found out that they are limiting
the number of recipients per message. They do this to
prevent spam.
Now, I have to split serveral distribution lists to work
around this.
¿How can I move 110/220 contacts from one distribution
list to a new one, so both of them have the same number
of contacts?
I use Microsoft Outlook 2003

- Outlook General >> what does "precondition failed" mean when you try and send an ema.I have been using outlook as my email program in conjunction with a hotmail
account. I've never had problems sending emails before, but all of a sudden,
my outlook fails to send email messages. The messages just sit in the outbox
while outlook tries to execute the send/receive function. After a little
while, the send/receive box reports a sending error: this is what the error
message says:
Task 'Hotmail - Sending' reported error (0x800CCC3C) : 'The server reported
an error. The server responded 'Precondition Failed'. '
If anybody can tell me how to fix this, I would appreciate it.

- IE6&Outlook >> Spell checker quit - repostThis is a re-post as I forgot to mention that I have also installed Office
97.
I am setting up a new computer with Win XP. It has IE and OE 6 on it. For
some reason I can't get the spell checker to work on new messages I create.
If I use the spell checker button manually I get the message: "An error
occurred while the spelling was being checked."
When I try to send a new message (with spell checking set to automatic) I
get the message: "Spell check on this document was halted."
I think that IE and Office use the same dictionary. I re-ran the Office
setup program to find missing files but to no avail.
What happened? And how do I fix it?

Outlook General >> webpage instead of inbox
In the folder list, right click the Inbox, click properties, go to the Home
Page tab, and either delete the URL or uncheck the "Show home page"
checkbox.

- Calendaring >> path for opening data filesis it possible to set the default path for outlook to show where my data
files are? I keep several different .pst for size reasons, and am refering
to them often. I'd like some easy way to get to them, but for synching
purposes (with my laptop), they are in a structure that takes several folders
to get to.
Thx.

- IE6&Outlook >> Compacting problemCompacting stops on the "Folders" file. The error message
says it is in use. This happens even when the automatic
(every 100 usages) compacting occurs after OE is closed.
Does that mean that file is corrupted? If I were to go into
my hard drive and delete that file would OE replace it with
a good one? Would all my OE messages be lost?

- Outlook >> POP client configuration problemsI keep losing my pop mail server entry with Outlook 2003.
The entry, pop.mail.yahoo.com keeps getting replaced with
local host. The pop.mail.yahoo.com gets appended to the
end of my user id.
I can go in and reconfigure and send/receive mail OK, but
I need to do this each time I use the product.
I suspect this is a registry problem. It actually did
the same thing with Outlook 2000, and problem persisted
after upgrading.
Any thoughts?

- Outlook General >> Look up Outlook Contact... fails in OL 2007In Outlook 2007 it's possible to pull up a contact record by right-clicking
on the sender's address in an e-mail message and choosing "Look up Outlook
Contact..." At least, that's the way it *used* to work. For the past week
I've been unable to look up a contact this way. Outlook returns this error:
"Could not find a contact with this e-mail address." And yet, the e-mail
address is filled out correctly in the contact record.
I've tried repairing the installation, and I've run the Inbox Repair Tool...
without success. Something has broken. Any ideas how to restore this
function?

- IE6&Outlook >> Folder cannot be createdWhen I try and create folders in my local directory in OE I get the
following error message:
"The folder cannot be created. An error has occurred."
Any suggestions as to reason. This is happening for one identity only.
Appears to work ok if I create new identity or use the other I dentity that
uses this version of OE. Thats ok if i can copy all settings of message
rules and folders across to a new identity. Can I do this?
I have checked MS support an dthe discussion board but have found no other
reference to this problem.
Am I the first?

- Outlook General >> BETA Outlook 2007 - "Cannot validate server certificate" error w IMy previous Outlook 2003 never had difficulty with my University's IMAP
server, but 2007 brings up a warning the first time it tries to connect to
the server every time, no matter what. It states that it cannot "validate the
server certificate" and asks if I wish to continue anyway. I always do and
everything works fine after that. I looked at some of the details of the
server certificate and checked with our IT people and it is fine. The details
even state "this certificate is ok". Everything on it matches what it should
match, so is Outlook 2007 incapable of correctly validating it? Is there some
info I need to post here to help people figure this out? -Noel

- Outlook General >> send vs. reply vs. forwardHere is the problem...
I have several email accounts...
One of them, of course, is set as the default account.
When I send a new message, it is sent from the default account.
But! When I 'reply' or 'forward' anything, it is automatically being sent
from a different (wrong) email account.
Shouldn't those also be sent from the default account?
I can't fix!
Can anyone help!
