- Outlook General >> Messages stuck in outboxHi
After having installed Office 2003, I had some initial problems when I tried
to use Word as my default email writer.
So this morning, I installed Office 2003 updates and now I can't send
anything out.
There seems to be no name in the 'from' line and I wonder if this has
anything to do with it.
When I test the account setup and ask Outlook to do a test run, that message
goes out ok.
But when I type a message, in Outlook or Word, that stays in the outbox even
though there are no error windows.
Tried loads of things plus a repair of Office.
Can anyone help?
Thanks

- Outlook General >> Time StampI am using Outlook 2003 with winows xp proffesional.
When daylight saving came in I put a patch on windows xp and I set Outlook
and my time on the computer to DST.
The problem is my all my appointments in my calendar spread over two days.
To fix this I put my computer time forward one hour then took off DST in
outlook and my computer.
All is well in the calendar but my time on my emails is 1 hour earlier.
Is there a fix?

- Contact >> View Contacts_ Global set lastname & company header...This is a View/Contacts question.
It's easy enough to save one contact at a time as a
detailed address card view and 'File As' as 'last name,
first and company' so they all show in the contact card
header.
How do I globally change a address book worth (hundreds of
contacts) from 'File As' 'last name, first name' to 'last
name,first name and company' ?
I prefer to have both the contact name and the company in
the contact card's header.
There must be a way to do this but I haven't been able to
find it.
Anyone know?
Thanks in advance.

- IE6&Outlook >> Display pause in OEI just transferred my old email to a new computer. I imported a lot
of email and folders from a backup I'd made. That seemed to work just
fine, but I have a delay in displaying text in OE, not in any other
program. I'll click on a folder, message or email, and there is a
pause of about a second and then the text will be displayed.
When I delete emails from a folder, there is the same delay. The
deleted subject, and all subjects below it, disappear for a second and
then the undeleted subjects are displayed again minus the deleted
subject.
When I edit email as I compose it, there is delay in displaying any
editing I do. Backspacing, deleting, the works.
I read and write a lot of email and this is driving me nuts. I've
compacted the folders, double checked all settings. Everything is the
same as all the computers in the house, with the exception that this
one doesn't have Virtual Machine on it.
I didn't test out the program before importing my email, so I don't
know if it was like this before the import or not.
Do you guys have any ideas for me? :)

It allows me to link it to a .dbx file as long as it is on a local drive.

Thanks for any assistance.

- Outlook >> Auto Respond in Outlook ExpressI am trying to create an auto response email in Outlook
Express.
I have set up the rule so that when messages come in with
a certain subject line that it will "Reply with Message".
I created a response email and saved it to my hard drive.
The problem that I have is that the message that it sends
back is in an attachment on the email. Is there any way
to get it to respond and have the response text right
inside the email that it sends back and not in an
attachment?
Thanks in advance

- Outlook General >> Outlook: Poor handling of HTML-email and poor support for conv toBecause of the poor handling of HTML-emails (Outlook often won't mark inline
replys correctly etc., won't break lines in original etc. And after a few
replies nobody can find out who wrote what) I prefer to send in plain text.
However, this is only possible to do if I read all mail in "plain text" -
which is very unconvenient for newsletters etc.
Pt. I need to open the mail I want to reply to, choose "edit message" and
convert to plain text. This should be an automatic option ("always convert to
plain text when replying").
In another world I could look for another client... Not "IT" choose Outlook
2003 for me :-(

- Outlook >> Junk Mail Filter BrokeI just:
1) Installed MS Office SharePoint Designer 2007;
2) Defragmented the Outlook program hard disk;
One of these things (maybe neither) has caused the Outlook 2003 Junk e-mail

restarting Outlook and resetting the settings under tools, options. All to
no avail.
Any idea how to fix this? Has anyone else had this happen? It is very odd.
Many thanks!

Usually when you change the message format to HTML you're able to print a
selection. Open the message and click Edit>Edit Message, then Format>HTML.

Brian,
When I click edit, there is nothing remotely allowing me to edit message
then on to format. I see only one area to click on edit. Am I missing
something?
Thanks

I checked under "tools" then options and it was already set on html. When I
highlight to print, there isn't even the option to print selected text.

Outlook >> Printing only highlighted selection in MS Outlook email
If your printer doesn't have an option to print selected text, then it's not
available with that printer.

Outlook >> Printing only highlighted selection in MS Outlook email
I think the section under Tools | Options you refer to is only for emails
you compose. Inbound emails are typically formatted in whatever method the
sender is using. If you open the message and don't see the "Edit Message"
choice in the Edit menu, it is probably a Rich Text Format, which you can
verify by looking in the Format menu. You cannot change from RTF directly to
HTML (at least not in OE2003), but you can change to Plain Text and then
change to HTML. The only caveat with this is that you would lose any special
formatting within the message body in the process. I find I can do these
format changes (for purposes of printing) without having to invoke the Edit
Message step.

Outlook >> Printing only highlighted selection in MS Outlook email
Brian--sorry so late to reply. Micorosoft Outlook is quite new to me but
YES, when I finally OPENED THE MESSAGE (duh!) I could highlight and print
only that part which I wanted. A real dunce here. :-) It was just too easy
to read everything without actually opening the message. Thank you, thank
you!

Please advise how this works in Outlook 2007 as although Outlook 2003 works
as you suggest, the new 2007 version has me completely stumped.

I got this from another Blog and it worked great
Open the message, then click Actions>View in Browser. You'll then
have the ability to select texts.

In all the "import" program options, importing from outlook TO outlook is NOT one of the options.
What's the simplist way to get my address book and e-mail storage folders to my new computer?
Are there specific files I can move to get my address book to the new computer? (where are they,
I've looked!)
Is there a way to syncronize the two computers, so if my wife sends an email on the 'old' one it
would show up in the 'sent' folder of BOTH computers?

embedding pictures into my emails from Outlook 2002. Maybe I am just

order for a picture to embedded and not sent as an attachment, you have
to 1)send the email in HTML format, and 2)Not use the option to 'use
word as the editor'. I have made sure those are the options I am
using. I can send a .bmp picture embedded, but .jpg still sends as an
attachment. Any solutions on this? Thanks!
