inbox e-mail should stay unread until actually opened.

Currently the inbox e-mail changes from unread to read if it is ever

high-lighted with the cursor regardless of whether it is actually opened.

Version is Microsoft Office Outlook 2003.

You can control this since Outlook actually got the Reading/Preview Pane

already (version 98 IIRC);

Tools->Options->tab Other->button Reading Pane

Tools ->Options ->Other ->unselect Mark items as read when viewed

in reading pane.
