Setting up outlook for an efficient work environment

Outlook845
We are using Outlook 2003 with Exchange 2000 (will upgrade to 2003 soon)

Most of my users have inboxes with thousands of emails, and cannot be

bothered in filing or archiving.

Are there any guidelines from Microsoft (or other third party Add-In) that

makes it easy to automatically file emails, create separate archive folders,

etc.

so that Inboxes & sent boxes are kept relatively empty?

Thank you

PS. I went to Slipstick, but the utilities advertised there do not seem to

be easy to use without a lot of setting up.

Rules and Autoarchive work well for most people.
