- Outlook >> Location of ".ost" fileI have a problem with outlook, I get the message saying that I'm using an
old copy of my Offline Folder File (.ost). Exit Outlook, delete the .ost
file, and restart Outlook. A new file will be automatically created the next
time you initiate a send/receive.
The problem I have is where is this file located so I can delete it
Thanks

- IE6&Outlook >> Downloading newsgroup messagesHi,
is it possible to archive newsgroup messages? or only 'download' the
messages?
Example: messages in one of Microsoft's (news.microsoft.com) newsgroups are
automatically deleted after x number of days. I would prefer just to keep
downloading the new messages but not have the old messages automatically
deleted. Does anyone know how this can be achieved?
Thanks

- Outlook >> Outlook 2002 PST BackupI have installed the backup add in utility but the Backup
choice does not appear on the menu? I have uninstalled
and reinstalled with no luck. All mesages say the product
installed correctly. It also appears as a listing in the
software listing in the Control Panel. I am on Win 2000
using an exchange server but also have a pst file open
that I want backed up. Ideas?

- Calendaring >> Calendar items Disappearing!!! HelpEverytime I create a calendar Item it will be there for
about 15 seconds and then th item disappears. I do a
search for a word I put in the subject but it's not
found. I've turned off archiving, checked the views, etc.
but no help. This happens when using Outlook 2003 client
or OWA.
Current setup:
Exchange 2003 (SBS2003)
Outlook 2003 (running on same machine as server) using
cached mode.
All patched and updates are installed.

- Outlook General >> Outlook will not quitI am having a problem with an Outlook 2000 client. Every time I go to exit
the program it will bring up the banner that says "Please wait while
Microsoft outlook exits" and it will never go away and outlook never finishes
closing out. This computer does not have Winfax pro installed and is setup
to retrieve mail from in a corporate environment from an Exchange Server.
Outlook does not have any COM-Add-ins installed. Has anyone else ran into
this problem, if so how did you fix it?

- Outlook General >> Identities problemI've been messing with this for 2 months and have got no
where but frustrated. I recently added a new identity and
set it up as instructed. The problem occurs when
switching identities from the main identing. What happens
is a password box pops up with the identies user name and
what appears to be my secure password below. hitting OK
doesn't work so I retype in my correct password which it
does not recognize either. I've gone so far as to even
remove the "requires a secure password " yet it still
pops up. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

- IE6&Outlook >> Resolving conflicts between web & windows address booksWhen I synchronize Outlook Express, I sometimes get a
window instructing me to resolve conflicts between the
windows address book & the web mail address book. I am
asked which record to keep (and overwrite the other).
Sounds simple enough. Unfortunately, every single time
this window has popped up, there are no addresses shown.
I am left to select between 2 blank choices. The Help
won't connect/popup either.
Ideas?

- Outlook General >> How do I change Exchange passwordI am using Outlook 2003 on XP Home. I work from home. My company uses an
Exhange mail server.
Question: is it possible for me to change my own Exchange/email password?
I remember doing this at my old job albeit with an Outlook 2000/Win 2k
system. I can't seem to find an obvious way and Online Help and even a quick
scan of the forum didn't yield any answer.
Thanks in advance.

- Outlook General >> E-mail SignaturesI am having a problem with e-mail signatures (OL/Word2002). WHen I create
e-mail I used Word as the editor with html. I have an e-mail template that
I assume is being used--it has the formatting, styles and fonts I prefer.
And when I add my signature it appears in the font and size as I created it
(Arial 10) along with a "legal" disclaimer at the bottom (Arial 8).
However, when I try to send a vCard for a Contact to somebody, an e-mail
with the vCard attached (or buried inside, I am not sure) appears. It also
contains my default signature. However, these are NOT the fonts I had set
up. Everything is now Arial 12. And my styles are nowhere to be found.
What is going on here? Is OL using a different template? If so, where is
it? How can I fix this?

- Outlook >> OWA Contacts don't show in 'Send To' listI'm currently using the WebDAV exchange interface to add
contacts from our internal application, much the same as
OWA does.
If an email address is specified when the contact is
added/updated (proppatch), the contact shows in the 'send
to' dialog (addressing emails/faxes). If not, the contact
is not shown. However, if I supply at least a Display Name
on the email, the contact will appear in the send to
dialog. Unfortunately, when I use the latter workaround,
the MS Fax wizard (ships with windows xp or office xp, one
or the other I think) throws an error about 'cannot
resolve
the address' when the contact is chosen.
Note that this issue is not limited to contact I've
created
with the WebDAV proppatch, but also with any contact
created by OWA in IE 6.
When I use the Outlook XP to create a new contact, in
either of the above situations, this issue does NOT occur.
I can create a contact with no email, just a name and a
fax
number, and everything works fine.
Is this an issue with the ms fax software, or OWA/WebDAV?
Contact is ngray % progressivenursing d0t com
Thanks much,
Noah Gray
(sorry for the cross post, but nobody responed on the
exchange2000 forums)

- Outlook General >> outlook securitysorry if this is a repeat but I put a wrong return email
address on first time round.
List one says that files with certain extensions will be
removed and there is nothing I can do about it. It
contains many microsoft files including access. Friends
tell me they use Outlook and can receive such files.
Have I missed a patch?

- Calendaring >> adding attendees for one instance on a recurring calendar inviteHi. Have set up a recurring calendar invite to a core group of people. Each
week we need to invite people only for that session and use the "open this
occurance" vs. the 'open the series'. Then I add the names for that one time
only and send out the updated invite. BUT...the folks added to the one time
only are made part of the series invite. So the following time the next
session comes up and a different group is invited for that one time only, the
folks from the previous one time only are still in there now as part of the
permanent invitee list. Is there a way to avoid having temporary folks
become part of the permanent list? Thanks in advance!

- Outlook General >> How you display number of unread items for a public folder?I just installed outlook 2003 and i'm trying to setup views so that i can see
the number of unread items in any folder. Public folders dosent seem to be
able to edit this or view this (I used to be be able to view this in previous
versions).
I'm given myself total owner rights to the folder, but it's just not an
option.
We used to be able to view this through shortcuts in Outlook 2002. HMm,
anyone have an idea how to do this in Outlook 2003?

- Outlook >> Displaying from: in new email messagesI am running Outlook 2000 on my laptop, with new emails creating using
Microsoft Word. I have a default address that I often send email from,
but sometimes I specifically want to change the sent from address and
use a different account. That I know how to do, by changing it in the
message under options, but I often forget to do that. Is there a way
of displaying the account I am sending the message from while creating
the email? Or, can the default account to be used be specified for
each contact, rather that globally for all contacts?

- Outlook >> E-mail AlertsHi,
I know that at one point when I would receive an e-
mail...I would get an alert in the notification area of
the bottom right-hand corner of my Windows taskbar. I am
running XP now with Outlook and Outlook express
capabilities. How can I get that little "envelope" in my
notification area that changes when an e-mail is present?

- Outlook General >> why cannot I see the option: "import export" in my file menu?hello all,
I used to backup my outlook contacts and emails by going to the file menu,
selecting "import export" option and exporting as .pst files. I'm trying to
do that these days but I cannot see the option "import export" there anymore.
Does anyone know what could be happening to my outlook, has it ever happened
to anyone?
