why is outlook 2003 auto deleting email?

Outlook954
After selecting an email and reading it, if I

A. Select another email

B. Close outlook

C. Select a different pane (ie sent items or deleted items)

Outlook automatically deletes the email that was previously selected, but it

does not show up in the deleted folder, it just completely goes away without

a trace. How do i stop outlook from doing this. It started in Office Xp

(2002) after upgrading to 2003 it still does it. Is it a setting or a virus?

Do you have any view modifications in place to hide read messages?

Re:why is outlook 2003 auto deleting email?

No I have gone through all the view options and can't find them ( the missing

emails). My current settings have the view by date with auto preview. I am a

mid level electronics tech but this has me stumped. I have up to date McAffee

and have run Spybot and Hijack but can't find any bugs......any ideas are

appreciated.

Re:why is outlook 2003 auto deleting email?

can you locate any emails you suspect of being deleted using Advanced Find?

Re:why is outlook 2003 auto deleting email?

I am not familiar with advanced find, but all suspected junk mail is in the

junk mail folder.

Re:why is outlook 2003 auto deleting email?

So, the emails you thought of as being deleted are in Junk? If they aren't

Junk then mark them as not so. You might also like to check your Junk email

settings and ensure you aren't using "Safe lists only".
