How do I search Address Book by last name?

When searching through the address book in Outlook 2003, The address book

automatically populates and narrows down the choices based on the letters,

which is very useful, but if there is a middle initial it throws everything

off. Is there a way to change the address book settings so that you can type

and search for contacts by last name, first?
