Force global acceptance of read receipts
Outlook599
We have one user that wants everyone to have to send read receipts. We are using outlook 2003 in CW with Exchange Server as the mail services over citrix thin clients. We now need to investigate this and make a corporate decision. People here have mentioned being able to block or force read receipts but i can't find any documentation on how to do it. I assume its group policy / ORK template. does any one know of some Ms guidance/instructions on this? - |

Re:Force global acceptance of read receipts
This can be controlled with Group Policy Objects. For a primer on =
setting group policies with Outlook, see = http://www.howto-outlook.com/howto/policies.htm However, IMO, this is a dumb idea, because read receipts are very = inaccurate. A read receipt never tells you whether a person actually = read the item, only whether they opened it or not. And it's not even = accurate about that. I can read a message in the reading pane and then = delete it, generating a receipt that said I deleted the item without = reading it.=20 --=20 Sue Mosher, Outlook MVP Author of Configuring Microsoft Outlook 2003 http://www.turtleflock.com/olconfig/index.htm and Microsoft Outlook Programming - Jumpstart for=20 Administrators, Power Users, and Developers http://www.outlookcode.com/jumpstart.aspx =20 "matchbox" <george.taylor@hants.gov.uk>wrote in message = QuoteWe have one user that wants everyone to have to send read receipts.
