how do I remove the strikethrough on deleted items?

Outlook168
I know this can be done as I did it on my own setup but now my friend just

installed Outlook 2003 and the default setup is set to put a strikethrough on

the deleted items rather than send to the deleted items folder. I just forgot

how to fix it. Even when you move to the deleted items folder, the messages

stay in your inbox with a strikethrough on them. HELP

Re:how do I remove the strikethrough on deleted items?

You are using an IMAP account. For IMAP, emails are never moved to the

deleted items folder, but rather marked as deleted (the strikethrough).

To permanently delete the emails from a folder, you need to use the

purge command in Edit.

If you don't want the emails shown with the strikethrough, you need to

change the view. In View, Current View (might be in the Arrange By

menu), select one that says "hide messages marked for deletion".
