How do I start Outlook at Power On?

This was set up to work at one time. The hardware mfg had me remove 1,000

temp files that somehow had accumulated. The function has not worked since.

Using the help feature says to drag the Outlook folder to the Startup folder

on the Start menu. There is no Startup folder on the Start menu but there is

one inside the All Programs list which is empty. Trying to drag the Outlook

folder from inside the Office folder simply moves or copies the folder to

before or after the Startup folder. It will not place it inside the folder

or give me "a list of programs" to select for addition to the Startup folder.

Create a Shortcut to oulook.exe and move it to your autostart folder in



C:\Documents and Setting\All Users\Startmenu\Programs\Autostart



Now outlook will start every time you (or an other user) start the

computer. If you want, that outlook starts only when you logged in, the

shortcut must be in



C:\Documents and Setting\Your account natm\Startmenu\Programs\Autostart

There is no folder called "Autostart" on my system. I used the "search"

function to try and locate it. Now what?

All folders and files will be shown except system hidden files.

For English installations, the path is

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup for programs

that all users should see start up when they log in and

C:\Documents and Settings\username\Start Menu\Programs\Startup for programs

that only the user "username" should have start.

Never mind! I've found a "Startup" folder in my "All Programs" area that was

empty. I opened it with a right click and Explore. Then I drug a copy of

the Outlook icon onto the opened folder. Everything seems to be working now.



Thanks for your help. It seems my XP doesn't look like most other peoples

for some reason. Even MS and Dell have given me instructions that don't

match what my system displays.

It probably does, but it can be problematic to interpret it until you're

used to it.
