Re:outlook express

Office 97 is looking rather "long in the tooth" about now. It is, after

all, more than 6 years old and XP is only little more than a year old. But,

below is the explanation for the most common cause of your problem.

The most common problem with WinXP and Office 97 is that Csapi3T1.dll is

missing from the PROOF folder (C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft

Shared\PROOF).

You can expand it from CSAPI3T1.DL_ in the \i386 directory on your WinXP CD.

Go to Start | Run and type this command:

expand x:\i386\CSAPI3T1.DL_ C:\CSAPI3T1.DLL

Where X: is your CD drive. Then move it from the root directory of C: to

the PROOF folder. Some people also have to put it in the Outlook Express

program folder.

Re:outlook express

True, and the only difference between what I posted and Michael's page is

the addition of pretty pictures. For many people, the pictures are

essential.

would guide Chris to Csapi3t1.dll

and enable repair for Windows XP

if Office 97 is installed and working.

Re:outlook express

Well, he links to Csapi3t1.dll in case people can't extract it,

the download is http://www.tech-pro.co.uk/files/csapi3t1.dll

Ok, but the instructions for extraction are pretty straight forward.

Personally, I'd prefer to extract it from legal copyrighted media that I

know is legal than download it from some unknown source since providing a

copyrighted dll file is a violation of the law in most jurisdictions. FWIW,

providing a link is not prohibited but the user who downloads it and the

provider of the download repository may be violating copyright law.

So, can we drop this subject now? I see no need to drag it out any longer.

Re:outlook express

My intention was to assist Kath with a link, not to criticize.

Please forgive me for blurting out a not so. I'll quiet down.
