Do not receive all of my mail

Outlook555
I am not getting all of my email through OE6.0. My ISP

says they are not holding any mail, even with

attachments, only stopping viruses and then sending a

confirmation to me on each they stop. My automatic

updates from MS were disabled till recently so I have

just installed all of the updates for MS

winXP/IE6.0/OE6.0. It would seem that was the start of my

problems. I am also not getting mail with attachments

that I need for my business and the box in options for

attachments that might be viruses is not checked. Can any

one help, Please

Thank You

Re:Do not receive all of my mail

Does the missing mail appear in your account's online Inbox?

Disable any email scanning by your anti-virus application. (If it's McAfee,

temporarily disable it entirely and see if things improve.)

Re:Do not receive all of my mail

PA Bear,

My antivirus software is Norton systemworks 6.01 it has

found issues with my email previously but has deleted or

removed the threat and still gave me the rest of the

message, as far as I know, it has notified me of any

occurance and has not just stopped an email from coming

in at all. I guess I do not know what you mean by

account's online inbox, it does not show up at all in my

OE inbox

Thanks and I will try to disable my antivirus to see if

it helps

Ralph

Re:Do not receive all of my mail

"online inbox" = a webpage where you can check your mail, outside of OE.

Even Symantec says Email Protection isn't necessary:

http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/nav.nsf/docid/2001082921552806.

It (or another NSW setting) can cause the problems you're having.

Re:Do not receive all of my mail

Funny, I just started having the same problem. I was

receiving the same message over and over and nothing else

even though the heading said it was downloading message 1

of 246...

I contacted my ISP and they said there weren't any

problems on their server. I've been able to read my email

at my server's webpage but it frustrates the hell out of

me not to be able to use OE6.

This is the error message I get:

"Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection.

Possible causes for this include server problems, network

problems, or a long period of inactivity.

Account: 'pop.rcn.com', Server: 'pop.rcn.com', Protocol:

POP3, Server Response: '+OK 271136 octets', Port: 110,

Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10053, Error Number:

0x800CCC0F."

Any help would be appreciated.

JES

Re:Do not receive all of my mail

Disable mail scanning by the anti-virus application.

Delete the problem message (first in the queue?) at the online page.

Re:Do not receive all of my mail

I did disable my antivirus for my mail, that didn't

change anything. Then I set up my mail through yahoo and

I am receiving all my mail there.

Could you tell me how I can change OE to receive all mail

no matter what, then I can sort through it later with

rules and blocking, these are both completely open now

Thank You

Ralph
