I have reinstalled outlook but has had no effect. In my internet settings

- Outlook General >> Send failure messageWas in public.w98.general.discussion and tried to send two attachments
with a reply. File/message to large. Tried again with just one attachment.
Same result. OE keeps telling me that those two messages not sent. That's
fine but everytime I go to OE that message window will pop up. How do I
clear out those messages and/or that window that keeps popping up. I can
close that window but it will come back before long.
Thanks. Keith

preview pain is used in outlook, it opens the email even
though the envelope icon in the main window shows that the

Is this true?

- Outlook General >> Folder list- displayed orderHi,
I work with Outlook 2002 in an office environment.
Ever since I got Outlook 2002 I have been wondering why in
the Folder List my Personal Folders (and my Public
Folders) are placed above Outlook Today.
I know that it's just a cosmetic thing but I would like to
know if there is some way I can set this straight? I would
like to have the standard way set up again where I have
the Outlook Today folder first, then Personal Folders next
and then Public folders.
Thanks,
Sander

and have deleted the number in the value data box, but
still no success. I have done this with OE closed, and
also have restarted the computer. I have done this a

Not possible with Outlook 97-2003. Outlook 2007 supports this feature.

Unless your mailer will do it on its own, you don't. I guess, if you
wanted to, and you're using HTML email, you could drop a smiley image in
there...

AutoCorrect will do that.

Sure it is, at least in OL 2003. AutoCorrect, either in the Outlook
built-in editor or in Word, can to it.

Ok, in works in OL 2003 with Word as email editor ¡X sorry OP! But not
with the Outlook built-in editor, at least not on my computer. When I
compose an (html-)email with Outlook's editor the ":-)" doesn't switch
to a smiley, whereas it works when I use Word as editor.

I don't use HTML, but it sure works for Plain Text and Rich Text when using
the built-in editor.

It doesn't work neither with HTML, nor with Plain- and Rich-Text! It
also doesn't work with word when using Plain- or Rich-Text. I don't know
the reason why it works on your computer but not on my (Outlook 2003
up-to-date). Might it be that is be related to the different language
versions of our Outlook's?
Here are the options when using Word as editor:
www.outlookfaq.net/images/outlook/AutoKorrekturWord.jpg
And here the AutoCorrect options when using Outlook's built-in editor:
www.outlookfaq.net/images/outlook/AutoKorrekturOL.jpg
In Word's options I see the smileys, but not in Outlook.
By the way, when I use Outlook's editor, the AutoCorrect doesn't work,
whether I use as format HTML, Plain- or Rich-Text.

Beats me. I use English Outlook and when I click
Tools>Options>Spelling>AutoCorrect and check "Replace text as you type", I
can put :-) in the left hand "Replace" field and â?º in the right-hand "With"
field and Outlook's editor does the replacement in both Plain Text and Rich
Text. Perhaps you didn't scroll down far enough or perhaps I added the
replacement myself.

I have put now the :-) in the left field, and your smiley (I have copied
it out of your posting) in the right field. And it works! If I get it
right I have to copy the smileys from Word, create a new AutoCorrect
"rule" in Outlook and put the smiley in.
> Perhaps you didn't scroll down far enough
Yes, I did! In my Outlook there is no standard replacement :-) -> â?º
> or perhaps I added the replacement myself
Maybe ;-)

- Outlook >> Exporting/Importing Mail Account SettingsI need to rebuild my pc again.

- Contact >> Outlook Contacts .pst file into Outlook ExpressI have all my contacts in a Outlook .pst file but to my
surprise Outlook Express does not have an import option
for .pst. I have also converted it to a tab delimited
file...but again thwarted. Outlook only imports comma
delimited. There is no way to use comma delimited on an
addressbook, there are commas all through the file in name
and address files.
Does anyone have an idea how to import it?

- Outlook Install >> Trial 2007 and Outlook 2003I installed a trial verison 2007. Decided I didn't want it, uninstalled it
and Word, Excel and Outlook didn't work after the uninstall. I then
reinstalled a trial version 2007 and word and excel now work, but Outlook
doesn't. I tried to uninstall Outlook 2007 and it already had X's in each
option so it doesn't appear to have installed, however, I am still having
sending/receiving issues and other functions in Outlook dont work, like
import/export. How do I get Outlook to work either with my current 2003 or
with the trial 2007?

- Outlook >> Address Book vs. Contacts vs Bus ContactsI would like to use Outlook 2003 Contacts for Personal
contacts and the Business Contacts in the Business
Contact Manager for my business names. In the properties
of the regular Contacts I have checked "Show this as an
Outlook Address book" but when I click to write an email
and click "To" I get the following error "THe address
list cound not be displayed. The Contacts folder
associated with this address lsit could not be opened; it
may have been moved or deleted, or you do not have
permissions."
When I click OK I get into "Select Names" dialog box but
the "Show Names from the:" drop down box has the
2 "Accounts", 2 Business Contacts and 4 "Contacts"
listed. I think this happened while I was attempted to
import my data from Outlook Express and ACT. I have two
MDF files and deleted outlook.pst 3 times because I kept
doing the import from OE wrong.
So the question is, how can I fix Outlook 2003 so that
only "Contacts" and "Accounts" and "Business Contacts"
appear in the "Show Names from the:" list and how can I
choose a default address book (I would like it to
be "Business Contacts".
Thanks so much.

mail. However, Outlook will not receive anything from the internet.
I've fixed this in the past by removing the setup and reconfiguring the

difficulties receiving the email from the internet account.
Any help would be greatly apprecitated.
