- Outlook General >> Outlook refuses to save my POP3 passwordOutllook 2003 on XP w/SP2 won't save my Pop3 password -- it prompts me every
time I connect. If I set up a Hotmail account for access in Outlook it wont
even connect -- keeps asking for password but never lets me in.
This had all been working fine for a long time, I believe it even worked
initially after SP2 install but about a week ago I started having trouble.
Found and followed the KB article on clearing the protected storage key in
the registry but still no go.
Tried using office/outlook repair. Tried creating a new outlook profile.
Outlook Express works fine.
Any ideas?

- Outlook General >> Outlook XP created copies of *.pst and archive.pstHi all
I have two identical *.pst files (Outlook Today - [Personal Folders])
and archive.pst files (Archive Folders) that to have been created by
Outlook for some reason. Both points to the same directory (H:\). When
right clicking on one of these two archive.pst folders the option
"Close Archive Folder" exists but not for the other one. The two *.pst
folders are identical but mail goes to just the one that I have
specified the mailbox to have as default delivery folder. Now, what
should one do about this...is it safe to just remove the duplicates or
will they be recreated next time outlook is opened? What has happend
here? Greatfull for any help, tips, ideas offered...

- Outlook >> Outlook 2000 Contacts folderRe: Outlook 2000 Contacts folder
'allo,
I run W2k Pro sp4 / Office 2k on a little desktop at home.
The OS is up-to-date. Outlook 2000 is at 9.0.0.9211 and I
currently use it for internet Email (only).
The Contacts folder is corrupt and cannot be repaired.
Gory details are in thread "Outlook 2000 Contacts folder
dysfunctional" (not recommended reading).
Can anyone explain how I might go about deleting (or
renaming or whatever) the old Contacts folder and
starting a new one from "scratch"?
TIA,
Puddin'

doen immediately when i enter a name into the address book
name line. This does not happen in outlook express. Also
I have access to the company server that also uses a
separate outlook and there is no problem there. Any ideas
or thoughts on this issue.

- IE6&Outlook >> Cannot send email without turning of virus controlHi all;
I hope everyone is doing very well today. My problem is I
cannot send, or receive email unless I turn off my
Norton's Internet Security 2003 virus control program. It
seemed to start right after Norton's stopped, and deleted
2 propragation type Klez viruses.
I have run 2 complete virus scans, with negative results.
I have uninstalled, and reinstalled Norton's, and still
cannot send, or receive email unless I turn Norton's off.
All Windows, and Norton's updates have been done. I am
running W2k Pro, and OLX 6.
Any help will be appreicated. Thanks.............

Outlook General >> Archiving
you should check if your archive .pst has become
corrupted or larger than 2GB.

- Outlook >> IPM.Microsoft Mail.NoteNot sure if I het the correct group... but here goes:
A customer has been sending me adobe PDF attachements... at
least thats what they tell me. But when I get the mail,
it has a 80k unnamed attachment. I name it with a PDF
extension, but it won't open. I look in the file with a
text editor, and the first line has "IPM.Microsoft
Mail.Note" in it.
I'm not using a Microsoft branded email client.
Can anyone explain what this customer is doing???

- Outlook >> outlook 2002 rules wizardIn Outlook 2002, I went to create a rule in the rules
wizard. I created a rule based on content, which asked
me to specify a word found in the heading and subject. I
created rules to recognize the specific word "[spam]" in
the heading and subject with an additional rule to place
these e-mail in the "specific folder" I created called
Spam.
After I hit okay, I get a message that says, "a value in
the rule description box has not been set. To set a value
click on the underlined words in bottom of the rules
wizard."
When I click on the underlined word according to the
directions, (in this case it happens to be the
word "spam"), a "Search Text" window appears with a box
prompting me "specify specific word or phrase to search
for in the subject". When I type in the word "[Spam]" I
can't hit the "OK" button as it is greyed out. My only
other option is to highlight the word "[Spam]" which
appears underneath in the search list. I can then hit
remove or add. If I hit add, it erases the word [spam] I
just typed into the "specify specific word" box, and it
recreates it into the search list window so that there
are now two words in the search list that say "[Spam]".
Bottom line is that no matter what I do in this screen,
the computer continues to prompt me that I have not
specified a specific word, and the rule will not function.
Please help.

- Outlook >> When sending email to multiple users, some recipients do not show up in the To or CC boxGood Morning All
I have come across a really weird problem that only happens to one
user. They are using Outlook 2000. When they send an email to multiple
people, not all of them show up as the email being sent to them in the
To or CC box after the email has been sent. All recipients do receive
the email but obviously when some of them open it they cannot see the
whole list of who the email was sent to as they dont seem to appear on
the list.
This happens more often if the email is sent to external email
addresses rather than the ones within my company but it has happened
with internal addresses to.
I really cannot figure this out as we all run in a Citrix Environment
and if me or anyone tries to replicate the issue, all the recipients do
appear in the sent email.
It only happens for this one user. Any ideas???????

Just curious, can you setup a POP3 email account with a PST file and an
Exchange Server account and have them both coexist in same Outlook profile
operating as follows: POP3 mail delivered to PST and replies come from your
POP3 account email address (different from Exchange address), *and* Exchange
account email delivered to the Exchange mailbox and when replying the
Exchange email address is used?
