Goofy Apointment Item Bug in Outlook - all versions

Outlook659
1. Create a New Appointment -

2. Set the Start time to 12:00 AM of day X

3. Set the End Time to 12:00 AM of day X. (same as Start time)

4. Check All Day Event

Result:

End time is before Start time by a day!

Seems to happen in all versions from Outlook 2000 to 2007. No tester

at Microsoft ever noticed this?

Wouldn't you want to set the end time for Day Y, not X?

Re:Goofy Apointment Item Bug in Outlook - all versions

I create zero time duration appointments all the time - especially as

reminders. I'm just pointing out that if you set a zero time

appointment to midnight and then "for whatever reasons" you change it

to All Day Event, the algorithm for reacting to checking the All Day

Event "behaves poorly". It's just a scenario that some tester at

Microsoft never went through or they just never decided to fix - its

been around since Outlook 2000.

It would appear that no, they didn't. =)

Odds are, no one really even thought about testing it. They likely went

with the behaviour to be 'For an all day event, one checks the box' without

an time setting.

Heck, I've used outlook since it existed and I've never seen it. And I've

had plenty of all-day appointments.
