- ASP.Net >> button event won't fireHi,
I have a button event that won't fire. I left it on Friday and it worked
fine. I came back in on Monday and it won't fire.
I tried putting another button and just putting a response.write on its
click handler but it won't fire either telling me no button click events
will fire. But my calendar control on the same page does fire.
In the debugger I put a break point in the calendar event and the button
event. I see it breaking in the calendar selection_changed event but not
the button_clicked events.
I do have a bunch of validators on the page, so here is the full
btnSubmit_click event:

- IIS >> IIS6 Web Service Extensions HELPI need to install an application to a Windows 2003 Server
using nstallShield and want to try to automate the setup
of the Web Service Extensions in IIS6 by script file or
something, this would avoid having to ask the end user to
make these changes manually.
Any help on this mater would be greatly appreciated.

I'm trying to run IISState to determine the cause of in intermittent soft
crash. When I run IISState (using syntax "iisstate.exe -p 5536 -d -sc"), I
get the below error:

would like to see if I can write some code within frontage
that will alow a user to click a hyperlink and then
perform the tasks outlined by the batch file. Any ideas
would be helpful.

- Frontpage Client >> Powerpoint and Front PageHi All,
I got this wierd problem. I created some presentation in powerpoint and
saved them as htmls in a front page web. In the past, I could edit the
presentation with Frontpage and save them. However, all of a sudden the
pages won't open in Frontpage. If I go on the website, the pages open fine
but not with frontpage. It comes up blank in the normal view and in preview
mode it says the page cannot be displayed. What is going on?

I am reading a context value (passed by calling page) in a web form. In page
load I read it using
x.text = CType(Context.Items("Calling_Page"), String). x being a textbox on
the webform. Neither x nor Context.Items("Calling_Page") has any value in
the click event of a button. How can I persist the value between the page
load and the button click events on the same web form? I have tried using a
public variable but that is cleared before the button click event for some
reason too.

I have a small problem in that whenever I create a table,
I get what appears to be double borders. There is a border
around the outside of the whole table, and another around
each cell, seperated by a small gap. - example on

What I would ideally like to have is a simple single
border around each cell, that would have no padding
between the cell borders. In a similar style to

- ASP.Net >> server exception error thrown when accessing Outlook.application owhen I attempt to create the outlook.application object in a windows
environment, it works, but when I use the same code in ASP.Net, it throws a
"server exception error".
Googled the error and found only a handful of suggestions. It suggested
changing the processmodel user id to "system". But, I still get the error.
Any ideas how to use the object in a ASP.net environment?

self-hosted DW6000 (Direcway satellite) network? I think it must be the
protocol Frontpage uses to connect to a FP server because I cannot connect

can I ask a genuine question (by that I mean I'm not trolling)
We are a small company and for a few years we have been building internal
web apps in ASP connecting to databases etc.
We see that just about everyone is moving to .net, but I'm curious about
practicle reasons for doing this.
I have read some marketing stuff and seen references better scalability, XML
and other things, but what I am trying to find out is what the
differences/improvements a user would see.
What would be great is if someone could point to a web site built in .NET
that does things that wern't possible in ASP/JAVA/Javascript etc.

I'm using a GridView column template containing a LinkButton. When the
User clicks the linkbutton the processing is as follows:
1. Make database call to get the URL.
2. If found call a javascript routine to open the URL in a new Window
(The URL is not part of my project).
3. If not found call a javascript to open a popup window.
How do I execute a JavaScript call on the Server? I need to execute a
database call first to get the URL which I then pass to the following
JavaScript routine.

am having a spacing problem with the text on top of the bar background.
The Text for the menu choices appears flushed left in-line with the menu bar
colored background.

I would like to have some padding on the left of the menu bars so that the
text has some breathing room, does anyone have any tips on how to achieve
this?

I've taken over a company's website that makes extensive use of frames
(apparently built from frames templates--Banner and Contents. Three frames
total--a header and side menu and main page.
Here's the problem. When I link from the index page to a one of these pages,
the header and side menu frames are duplicated on the HTML page (side-by-side
or stacked on top of each other). Any advice? Thanx!

- Frontpage Client >> Why do tables change when printed?I created a website (www.conservationconsulting.net)
using tables to control the width and appearance of each
line of text. When I view pages in Internet Explorer the
text (in the tables) appears the same as I created it --
with the same line breaks, etc. However, when I print
those webpages the tables stretch horizontally and as a
result some of the words on the right get cut off.
In addition, the last few table rows are spread out
vertically when printed as if many blank rows were
inserted.
Any ideas?
I even set the table to pixels rather than percentages,
so that even if someone adjusts the size of their web
browser window the formatting shouldn't change.

something from its previous control...I want to simulate as if its a windows
based application and the entire page is not refereshed (trip to
server)....other controls are not involved for this task....how can I
smoothly refresh these contols...I was reading about VIEWSTATE, is that the

It was working fine up until a day or so ago. Now all of a sudden it does
not work.
If I take out the Response.ContentType line and copy the source code to a
asx file it works fine. if I copy the URLs out of the code and put them into
the browser it plays. So it is generating the file correctly, it is opening
Windows media player, but it then errors saying it cant fine the file. Yet
copying the URL from the generated asx works fine.

application and it's working fine this way, but now i need to get data from
another web app. but i don't know how to get data from that web app in other
words how is the code in the web app to return a value to a xmlhttprequest
object i tried the return statemen but it doesn't work in that web app.
In the client side i thing i have to use the XmlHttpRequest.responseText to
get the server response but i don't know how to mke this server response.
i hope my explanation is clear enough, any questions please let me know
any suggestions or code sample would be appreciate

publish my website...and just recently have been getting this error message
Microsoft Frontpage
The Server "" timed out. The current request did not complete successfully.
It first happened when I tried to republish my entire site...while I was
able to publish a couple of pages at a time. Then I noticed the same error
message come up when I tried to access certain folders in my folder list
within FP.
I have done a detect and repair and a complete un/reinstall, no change.
No virus or spyware activity detected.
This is dreadful...I am looking forward to installing Adobe Go-Live.
I have restructured my navigation, otherwise, page by page publishing would
be adequate for now. Any thoughts here much appreciated. Thanks JRA

What I mean is the authenticated state remains as long as the browser window
