Change Default File Location

Web Programming231
How do I change the default file location in FrontPage 2003? I believe the

default is My Webs. I want to make it point to a user account on the

network. The computers with frontpage will be shared, so this change needs

to be applyed to anyone who would happen to log on to it.

Thanks,

Torrey

Re:Change Default File Location

Change the default folder used by FrontPage© for saving / storing your webs.

www.95isalive.com/fixes/index.htm">www.95isalive.com/fixes/index.htm

middle of the page.

Some info and a downloadable "tweak"

The tweak will only work if the user can "Browse" to and select the correct drive and

directory

when running the tweak installer.

Re:Change Default File Location

Thanks for the tweak.

I work for a school IT department, and I don't think its feasible to ask all

the students to run it everytime they log in. There has to be another way to

change the default directory - permanantly. Also, I searched google

extensively, and found very few references to this. I can't even find the

actual registry keys that are to be modified. It appears that the original

site that hosted this tweak no longer exists.

By the way, I like the 95isalive site. We still have a few computers on the

network that run 95... much easier to administrate, not all confusing like

these new XP machines...

Re:Change Default File Location

It does change it permanently.

It changes The registry entry for the value DefaultWebName here:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\FrontPage\Explorer\FrontPage Explorer\Settings

That's why they have to be able to browse to the correct drive and folder, and when it's selected

the registry entry is changed.

Re:Change Default File Location

I am also a network manager in a school and I am having the same problem. I

have tried setting the registry key to another drive but it does not work,

any suggestions.
