Thumbnail not accessing full sized image

Web Programming292
Can someone please explain how some of the thumbnailed images on a page open

fine and others don't? I did exactly the same thing to post them on the

page? (import images to the web, insert image on the page, auto thumbnail)

The more I use Frontpage the more aggravated I get...there is absolutely no

reason that I can see why the file path stays C:/ documents and settings...

etc on some but works properly on others. This happens to me ALL the time

when I add images to a page.

Is there a patch for this glitch or at least a way to manually create

thumbnails and hyperlink to the full sized image myself to avoid wasting

hours trying to get the software to work properly?!

Here's a link to the page...note that two of the images open and the rest

don't. (Incidentally, the same thing happened with all of the images for the

Saints game at the top of the page but deleting them from the page and

reposting them and rethumbnailing worked for them. These however won't "fix

themselves" and I've already wasted about 2 hours today trying to get it to

work right.)

www.patriotworld.com/MrsB/tailgates/2005tailgates.htm

Thanks... (sorry for the attitude but I'm quite aggravated right now as I

don't have time to constantly redo the same pages over and over again.)

Re:Thumbnail not accessing full sized image

The trick with FP, you must be aware "how" you are editing the "page"

when you use FP's tricks. Did you open the page as a part of a web or

outside a web? I suspect you did the latter for the broken links.

Next time make sure you open the page within the web, then import the

pages to the web before using then, then create the autothumbails, then

save at your local web. Then puplish to the site.

Now, for the page with the broken links, you don't have to start form

scratch.

Maku sure the regular pics are imported in the web. Then for each

thumbnail with a broken link, change the hyperlink to the correct

address (within the web).

Re:Thumbnail not accessing full sized image

It's not a glitch.

If you wind up with a path that starts with C:/documents, it's "almost

always" a sure sign you were editing the page without opening your web

and then opening the page and then making changes.

almost always = 99.99% sure

Re:Thumbnail not accessing full sized image

I never even realized that I could "open a page without opening the web"

that I want to edit from there. That's what I always do... and what I did

Re:Thumbnail not accessing full sized image

It can happen if you've browsed to a folder using windows explorer

instead of FrontPage and double click a file.

Or if you click a link in Recent Documents.

Re:Thumbnail not accessing full sized image

You don't ever really want to open a page without first opening the web.

Re:Thumbnail not accessing full sized image

Correct - But only if you are working on a page that is within or destined to be within a FP web/site

FP supports, and there are many needs for users, to just edit pages that are Not in a FP web/site

- that includes html pages that have relative or absolute links to other files

Re:Thumbnail not accessing full sized image

Post a link to the site...that would help us to troubleshoot it.

FP web pages need to exist within a web / site, within that there are files

that are related that make things work. When you started your web did you

File | New Web or File | New Page...if the later you just have a "loose"

page.

manual

the

so
