Didn't see anything there I can't do already with Feisty or Debian +

Beryl, and the video is so jerky it's irritating to watch. Not the

greatest ad for what is really a very smooth system.

Re:Only Four More Days!

Every time I hear someone talking about a linux build recently it seems

to be about those wobbly windows, like you said stuff that was out ages

ago with Beryl.

Seems to me that there trying to be more like windows adding pointless

features that each times take up more memory/processing

There is no place on youtube to add meaningful comments like that unless

you actually add to the display or soundtrack I guess.

Hideous Hyena will fix those graphics issues.

Here's a preview

Damn, I was going to buy one of those for Frank and you spoiled the

surprize now, figured it was time he got away from the old etch a sketch

with it's "Hercules" graphics...

Yes, some is nothing more than eye candy, but at least it's free :)

I do honestly find the cube presentation useful though, and the more I

use it the more useful it becomes, but of course that is purely personal

preference.

And I am rather impressed how little impact it has on speed.

LOL! My Ubuntu computer never uses more that 350MB of memory. Bloat is

not an Ubuntu trip but a Windows trip. Try to run Aero with 512MB of memory.

You keep posting that cr@p video.

Doesn't the latest release have something more than another pointless

windows manager?

Gosh, it took me one click from ubuntu.com to get this:

www.ubuntu.com/testing/710rc" >www.ubuntu.com/testing/710rc

which lists the new things that Gutsy will have.

So why do you keep posting the cr@p ones?

Are you easily impressed?

You are talking about opinion. I thought that video was good for

beginners. If you have found a better one, by all means post it.

You miss the point.

If that video displays Ubuntu's best then it is not worth a look.

If you must insist on pushing Ubuntu at least find a good reason to do so.

So far you have claimed it is secure which it isn't.

You have shown another windows manager that does nothing useful.

You have claimed a wealth of applications.. none of which are not also

available for windows.

You said people here would save money.. by throwing away paid for software?

You are not very convincing and I expect your success rate is about zero

here.

I got the point. You don't like the video.

It give you an idea.

I have.

Quote
So far you have claimed it is secure which it isn't.

The one I have installed for six months now hasn't burped once.

I find four desktops to be very useful and I like Compiz-Fusion a whole

lot better than aero.

Tar is available for Windows? The Linux file system is available for

Windows? The not being virus and malware prone is available for Windows?

I don't think so, chum.

Quote

By not buying it in the first place or, if they need another language,

they can get Ubuntu for free whereas Vista wants you to upgrade to

Ultimate for a quasi language change or buy another copy.

Quote

Well, I get emails all the time asking about it so what you expect ain't

happening.

Yes. But why not use 7-zip as its better.

You know as well as I do that there is malware for Ubuntu and lying about

its existence is going to make it go away.

Do you know why normal people come to this group?

Ubuntu isn't going to get them another language for Vista is it?

There are many many tar compressing packages for Windows (7-zip has the

right price)

Quote
The Linux file system is available for Windows?

Which one? Ext2/3 is available as an IFS, there are others too, but

hardly anyone cares to even bother to install them, unless they have

coexistence requirements. NTFS meets the performance and function needs

of most.

Well, it's available on my systems, but it won't stop Windows being a

more appealing target for the creators of those.
