- Windows Vista >> Display probelms in VistaWhen I open a window that's not maximised, or open a dialogue box, or indeed
anything that's not full size, when I move the cursor outside of the
displayed area, the window disappears and the display reverts to the recent
most full size window. The application or dialogue box or prompt stays open
but I have to select it from the task bar and then ensure that the cursor is
kept inside the displayed area to prevent the same thing happening. Is there
anything within Vista that I can change to stop this?
Thanks to anyone who can help.

- Windows Vista >> request for spline curves for Vista, XP OSVista and XP come with the capability of doing Bezier curves. that
came with NT if I remember right.
controlling Bezier curves is like Alice in Wonderland trying to use a
flamingo as a croquet mallet.
I'm not saying take bezier curves out, because paint programs and
people use them. I am saying "Add spline curves", such as Akima
Spline.
with splines you just pick the points along the curve you want, and it
fits the curve to those points. simple. only gotcha is that you need
extra points around sharp edges.

- Windows Vista >> Restore Old User Profile and DataThis afternoon my 20 month old daughter climbed up to my laptop and held down
the power button so that Windows Vista Home Premium Booted and then
imediately shut down and began to reboot again. A black screen indicating
that Windows had not properly booted and I could boot as normal or go with
the system recommeded option, which I had assumed at the time was simply a
scan to ensure Windows was working properly. I selected the later. My system
went into what I think is recovery mode and began to make "images" of the
data and it seems that Vista re-formatted itself so that I was prompted after
all was said and done to create a new user profile. I would like to restore
the old profile with 11 GBs worth of invaluable data, but I'm not entirely
certain what happened, nor how to restore the original profile. I know the
size of my hard drive partitions did not change and when I view the Users
file in my primary partition the original profile is there. Any advice or
direction on where I could read a tutorial to figure this out would be
greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

It's not. You have never read any of the postings from kevpan? For the
most part they are NOT related to Vista. Oh yea, I could say that this is
remotely related because I generated this post using Vista and I am using
Windows Mail! A Stretch?
Other than the above, it isn't related at all :-)

- Windows Vista >> Article: Windows Vista Simply Can't Catch a Break - Maybe with SP1 - But its a big maybeIts sad that many people are just beginning to realize how bad vista is, I
saw how horrid it was more than a year ago after using it for say 5 mins!
Of course I predicted this reaction.. but I thought Vista would be declared
trash faster than it has been... I actually thought people
would realize this faster...
""That's been a disappointment. Our customer surveys tell us customers are
adopting at a slower rate than we -- or anyone else -- thought.""
Oh you don't say? Why is it that I saw vista was crap right away???? Its a
miracle vista is still being sold!
Link towards article>
http://news.softpedia.com/news/Windows-Vista-Simply-Can-039-t-Catch-a-Break-Maybe-with-SP1-73961.shtml
At over one year since Windows Vista was released to manufacturing and after
it shipped to businesses in November 2006, and at almost 12 months since the
operating system hit the shelves, it simply cannot catch a break. The last
statistics related to the market performance of the latest Windows client to
come out of Redmond pointed to in excess of 88 million licenses
shipped to the company's channel partners. At the same time, data published
by market metrics firm Net Applications points to the fact that Vista is
right on track to hit the 10% market share/100 million copies by the end of
2007. Still, with the sole exception of Microsoft, the general perception is
that Vista's uptake in the corporate environment is suffering drastically.
Businesses are notably slow at adopting new technology, and as Vista
requires a healthy underlying infrastructure, companies generally
synchronized migration to the new software with their next hardware upgrade.
At the same time, the first service pack for Vista is regarded as a sign of
maturity, and there are examples of large corporations, such as Intel and
Dell that have postponed jumping to Vista well after SP1. While Microsoft
gave strong indications that it was in fact selling Vista in the corporate
environment, independent studies come to illustrate the contrary, revealing
that although the adoption of the operating system will pick up in the
coming year, the rate of uptake will still be low.
"That's been a disappointment. Our customer surveys tell us customers are
adopting at a slower rate than we -- or anyone else -- thought. Even those
that have licenses and can move quickly are not. Our CIO has been using
Vista now for a long time. His comment is that it would take three or four
hours for every user to learn Vista. He thinks it will be a big investment.
For end user customers, the investment is not just in teaching Vista, but in
new hardware to go along with it. It will continue to be adopted, but it's a
slower base than anyone thought it would be a couple years ago", revealed
John Edwardson, chairman and CEO of CDW, as cited by Channel Web.
In this context, Windows Vista Service Pack 1 will be a turning point for
the operating system. Microsoft has just made available a public version of
Vista SP1 RC1, but has failed to deliver an accurate deadline for the
delivery of the refresh. And most of all, the Redmond company has constantly
downplayed the relevance of SP1, gearing users directly to Vista or to
Windows Update. In this regard, Microsoft has managed to create the
perception that SP1 will not turn a new page for Vista.

- Windows Vista >> System Service ExceptionAgainst the advice of all of my colleagues, I am trying to install Vista on a
new computer I've assembled. Every single component is supposedly
Vista-compatible (in fact, I just upgraded to a $200 video card so Vista
would run).
But I cannot get past the blue screen of death during the "Expanding Files"
stage of installation. Soon after it reaches 1% I get a "System Service
Exception" and there's a hexidecimal code below that ends in "3B".
I can provide the specs of all the hardware in my system if required.
What would you do, short of giving up and just installing XP?
Sincerely,
Robert Werner

- Windows Vista >> Vista Sidebar - Cannot Install Gadgets !!!Hello Everyone,
This is my 1st post so be gentle with me.
I have tried to resolve this problem on Computeractive Forums to no avail
and was pointed to your community as a possible saviour.
The problem is I cannot install any GADGETS at all.
- I have checked that the file associations is OK
- I've tried to <install> directly from Windows Gallery
- I've tried to <download> <open> on my PC
- I've been through and carried out the suggested Register changes
- I've ensured all Windows Updates are installed
- I've checked that Norton Firewall is not blocking the program(s)
- I've un-installed all standard GADGETS & tried to install new ones
To rub salt into my wounds, when I ran the Norton360 V2 update it loaded a
GADGET into the "holding window" !!! (and yes, I did then try al the above
afterwards).
Can anyone point me in the right direction as this problems driving me NUTS
!!!!!!
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Many Thanks,
Peter
