- Windows Vista >> The real Frank, the newsgroup clown. He's really a psychopathDoes this sound like Frank?
A typical psychopath has deficits in several areas including
interpersonal relationships, emotion and self-control. Psychopaths
lack a normal sense of guilt and rarely show any remorse for any harm
they may have caused others either physical or in written or spoken
words.
Instead of rationalizing their own poor behavior, blaming someone
else, or denying it outright is far more common. Psychopaths lack
empathy towards others in general, resulting in tactlessness,
insensitivity, and contemptuousness.
Psychopaths enable themselves with their low self-consciousness, a
strong willingness to say anything without concern for accuracy or
truth. This extends into their pathological lying and willingness to
attempt to con and manipulate others for personal gain or amusement.
Defined in Psychopathy this condition is characterized by lack of
empathy or conscience, poor impulse control or manipulative behaviors.
Only a minority of diagnosable psychopaths are violent offenders. A
psychopath is often deceitful, abusive and often engages in fraudulent
behavior. They often attempt to use intimidation to satisfy their own
selfish needs. Lacking in conscience and having little or no feelings
for others they take what they want and do as they please, violating
social norms and expectations without guilt or remorse.
A psychopath will typically show several of the following bad traits:
1. delusions and gross exaggerations of one's accomplishments, worth
2. repeated signs of irrational thinking
3. neurotic manifestations, often acting out being superior
4. Unreliability
5. Untruthfulness and insincerity
6. Lack of remorse or shame
7. Antisocial behavior without apparent compunction
8. Poor judgment and failure to learn from experience
9. Pathological egocentricity
Yes this is Frank. One sick puppy for sure.

SP1 allows you to select individual vols to defrag via the GUI.
There is still no display of fragmentation or progress of defragging
It just took 12 minutes on my relatively new/clean setup of Vista with SP1,

Windows Vista >> The Sad History of Vista
From a M$ employee:
"mismanagement and corporate bloat. i had over a 10 year career at
microsoft and watched windows and windows nt grow up. when vista
(longhorn, cairo, etc.) was being made, i watched the bloated
microsoft machine fail worse each time. and with vista, saw them
literally have to throw the code away, get a new vp, and start over.
years of work thrown away. then they started over with the windows
server 2003 codebase and wrote as fast as they could again from the
beginning while throwing out all the innovative features.
vista is nothing other than nt with a new coat of paint because of
that. and that is another reason why i left microsoft. i had,
unfortunately, missed that they already jumped the shark. "

Strange that anyone would want to be associated with that scumbag. In any
case, "Frank" is a very common name, as is "Bill". The solution for
your "Frank" is for him to call himself "Francis". That's what most of us
know him as anyways. Francis - THE Usenet Village Idiot - to be more
precise.
Cheers.

- Windows Vista >> Vista's minimum CPU requirements are 243 percent larger than XPRepost from archives: Vista - XP cpu usage comparison
A survey in December by US IT services company Softchoice claimed that Vista
will be the most power-hungry Windows desktop so far. The report claimed
that at Windows XP's launch, for example, the minimum CPU requirements were
75 percent greater than those for the operating system it replaced, Windows
2000. Vista's minimum CPU requirements are 243 percent larger than that of
XP.

- Windows Vista >> Not able to click inside some frames and pop up windowsI wonder if this is a Vista problem or something else?
On my laptop when a new pop up box opens, sometimes only the frame round the
box is solid. That means when I click inside the frame it deselects that box
and selects the programme or window underneath. Only by clicking on the bar
at the bottom of the screen can I make the one I want 'live' again. This is a
nuisance as some buttons can't be clicked and, even if I manage to Tab them
to work I can't tick some boxes. But sometimes after about 20 minutes it all
starts working again.
It's very odd.

like: all your camera images HPIM9999.jpg, type in IM and you get no
hits.
the 'index' business was maybe a good idea to limit search hits, but
they went way overboard by eliminating the implied * wild card character.
is there a fix on the way?
thanx

- Windows Vista >> Rename OS in Dual Boot ScreenHi, just installed vista ultimate x64 (without any issues whatsoever & is
running perfectly) and am dual booting with vista business x86. However,
both operating systems have the same name in the dual boot selection menu
and in the advanced settings within the operating system. Until I am certain
that that all my software & hardware works on the 64bit OS I'd like to
continue dual booting... so is there an easy way to change the name of the
different operating systems? adding x64 to the name of the 64bit OS would
suffice.
TIA
Dave

- Windows Vista >> Task manager is not respondingMy office recently bought 3 vista machines and as soon as we install Bentley
microstation task manger suddenly stops working. I know that is more likely
to be a Bently issue. But according to bentley it would not cause this issue.
Could anyone tell me why this vital function would just stop working.

- Windows Vista >> Running Vista in a VM on a Tablet PCI have Vista Business installed in a VMware VM on my XP Tablet Edition 2005
HP tablet PC. VMware doesn't recognize the Wacom digitizer, so I can't use
all the functionality of the tablet in the VM. I have basic input and
writing capabilities, but that's it.
Does anyone know how to, or even if it's possible to, get VMware to
recognize that device so the VM will be a fully functioning tablet? I
haven't been able to find anything on their forums.
Thanks,
Tom
