Windows Vista17
I have a set of recovery disks for my Vista machine. Can I delete the partition labeled (on my HP) "HP_RECOVERY (D:)" to free up space? - |

Re:Recovery Partition
I personally wouldn't. The added just in case something goes wrong, suppose
your disk get stolen or damage? If they did, you may have to do it from the Vista installation DVD when reinstalling Vista. I would give this method in this tutorial a try first though. Re:Recovery Partition
Do it as long as you are sure that your recovery disks are good to go.
Otherwise, unless you are running drastically out of space, leave the recovery partition as it is. -- Mike Hall - MVP msmvps.com/blogs/mikehall/default.aspx" >msmvps.com/blogs/mikehall/default.aspx Posting Productively.. www.dts-l.org/goodpost.htm" >www.dts-l.org/goodpost.htm "John" <noneya@noneya.com>wrote in message QuoteI have a set of recovery disks for my Vista machine. Re:Recovery Partition
John - HP provides a utility for "removing" the recovery partition. Keep in
mind that when the partition was created the MBR(Master Boot Record) was modified to show the "Hit F11 key to restore...." (or something similiar) - deleting the partition without using the utility will not remove the MBR modification. Re:Recovery Partition
Thanks for the advice. After more consideration I've decided not to delete
this partition. It just doesn't seem like a good idea. "Mike Hall - MVP" <mikehall@mvps.com>wrote in message QuoteDo it as long as you are sure that your recovery disks are good to go. |
