Hi,
Apparently you did not check your original post for responses? Re:Restore points
Hi Rick,
Thanks for duplicating your response. In fact, none of your answers brought a solution to my problem: The message I get is the following, translated from French back to English: "an uspecified error has occurred during system restore (windows update)" That's all, no error code, just a generic event ID, 8209. However, if I try to restore a point via the safe mode (no network connection) it works perfectly. I didn't try to switch the internet connection off durind a restoration process, should I have done so? I add a copy of the message found in the event observer. It's in French, but accessible to anyone. Thanks anyway for our assistance. Re:Restore points
Hi,
Sorry to have been brusque in the 2nd response, but you didn't indicate that you had seen the initial response so there was no way to tell what you've tried. Since we can't see your system, you need to let us know what you have and haven't tried, and if something suggested does not help. Otherwise we can only make assumptions and guesses. As it seems to work in Safe mode, but not in normal mode, you need to look at what programs are loading with the system. One or more of them is interfering with the process. A high percentage of the time this is caused by antivirus or antimalware software that is over-agressively trying to protect the system. While there are some known issues with Norton's, other vendors are suspect as well. I would start by disabling yours and seeing if this resolves the problem. -- Best of Luck, Rick Rogers, aka "Nutcase" - Microsoft MVP mvp.support.microsoft.com/" >mvp.support.microsoft.com/ Windows help - www.rickrogers.org My thoughts rick-mvp.blogspot.com" >rick-mvp.blogspot.com "La Poste" <maculottejean.lavie@laposte.net>wrote in message QuoteHi Rick, |
