Please help me print with Vista
Hi All,
I am ready to throw my vista machine out the window. I need to print my bank statement as a PDF. When I click print it says something like this is an unsafe action and that it is saved in my temporary internet folder. When I open the folder it is blank. It will not let me save it anywhere on my C: drive, and it says I don't have access to my D: drive. I cannot set my banks website as a trusted site because the main part of the web address changes and I cannot use * in that instance. Please help Chad - |

Re:Please help me print with Vista
This is caused by "User Account Control" and the Filesystem being
virtualized ( e.g. the folders are fake folders and not the real ones ) . You have a few options : get an alternate filemanager like TotalCommander ( www.ghisler.com ) and set it to show hidden directories, then have a look within this Norton-Commander Clone in your C:\user\.. directories. If you have saved it before in Internet Explorer then this file has to be somewhere deep in the directories that normally you will never see. Or : Use alternate browsers like firefox or opera for this action if you want UAC enabled. These Browsers do not make use of the virtualization feature in Vista. Or : Disable all these doubtful security-features in Vista : Startorb/ type in the searchbox or in the runbox : msconfig, then go to the tab named tools and select "disable user account control. You will need to reboot for the effect. technical background : Configuring UAC : http://technet2.microsoft.com/WindowsVista/en/library/00d04415-2b2f-422c-b70e-b18ff918c2811033.mspx Virtualization in Vista: http://www.west-wind.com/WebLog/posts/5584.aspx Sascha/germany "Chad Cameron" <NOTchad483@hotmail.com remove NOT>schrieb im Newsbeitrag QuoteHi All, |

QuoteHi All, and then as a PDF? If your settings allow you to "print" (ie send what's on the page to a printer and print onto paper) then you'll be able to save what's on the page as a .PDF file by using a program called PDF995. I use it on Vista regularly. ...... hopefully this is of help. - |

Hi Chad,
As a workaround, you may save the .PDF file locally, reopen it and = Print. --=20 Regards, Ramesh Srinivasan, Microsoft MVP [Windows Shell/User] Windows=AE Troubleshooting http://www.winhelponline.com Winhelponline.com blog http://www.winhelponline.com/blog "Chad Cameron" <NOTchad483@hotmail.com remove NOT>wrote in message = Hi All, I am ready to throw my vista machine out the window.
