Vista and Office 2003 Incompatible??

Windows Vista35
Is it alright or not advisable to deinstall Office 2007 on a Hewlett-Packard

PC with Windows Vista Home version so that Office 2003 Professional version

can be installed for a few months? After that time period, Office 2007 would

be reinstalled. I have heard mostlycons. Is Vista Home incompatible with

Office 2003?

Nope. Office 2003 will run perfectly well on Vista....

Re:Vista and Office 2003 Incompatible??

Probly not the best thing to do but I did.

I have Office 2002 SP3 on my vista home basic which came with 60 day trial

of office 07.

I didn't even remove 07 first, I let the install of 02 do it.

However, you do see me here asking for help on some small things! Other than

that works to get the job done until my boss buys me 07.

Yeah, if you enjoy having to put in your password every time you open

Outlook. I think that was done by design to force users to buy Office 2007.

Re:Vista and Office 2003 Incompatible??

Guess that answers a question I was going to ask in the Outlook forum. I

normally leave it running all day anyway and like you said, it only asks for

it (wont keep it in the properties even though you check the box) at start

up and will error out. but hit send and receive or let the auto send and

receive however long you have it set for and it works and continues until

you close and restart.

I have to type my password in every time on web mail so that little bit

isn't too much of an issue.

My perspective but thanks for the heads up.

Re:Vista and Office 2003 Incompatible??

I've been running Vista with Office 2003 (with Outlook) and I've never had to

put in any password when I open Outlook or any other part of the Office suite.

Can you elaborate or provide a source of this (mis)information?

I agree I had the problem with 2002. I no longer have it with 2003.

That's because you didn't configure Outlook properly. I use Outlook on

Vista ultimate and was never asked for my password after the initial setup.

Oops, my bad. I thought it applied to 03 as well.

He's correct in that it's a known bug with Outlook *2002* on Vista. 2003 is

OK....

I was wrong. I never have configured Outlook in Vista because I don't

use Vista. I had read that OL 03 had this problem but I stand corrected.

I checked out your link, which contains a superb example of Microsoft Speak:

'extended support', which of course means that if anything goes wrong it

will not be fixed.
