Vista compatibility with XP

Windows Vista19
I have a new PC with Windows Vista installed. However, I work from home with

an organisation which has several employees who use Windows XP and Word 97

and they are having trouble opening my documents

I know I can save individual docs by saving as Word 97-2003 compatible, but

having to remember to do this every time is becoming a nuisance.

Can I set my computer to default to this method of saving docs everytime?

Make Word 2007 Always Save in Word 2003 Format

Also, users of older Office products can download the

Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack. Unfortunately, this

doesn't work with Office 97.

In which case the Word, Excel, Powerpoint etc. Viewers 2007 may be an

option. They can be freely downloaded from Microsoft Download Center.

Excellent point. And they must use the 2007 viewers and those

that are using the older viewers must also apply the compatibility pack

to their viewers. Or, update to the newer 2007 Viewers.

Re:Vista compatibility with XP

This probably has to do with Office 2007 and not Windows Vista.

An option is for them to install the Office Compatibility Pack:

If you still have questions or problems, ask in an Office/Word

newsgroup:
