"Windows Movie Maker has Stopped Working" when I try to import mov

Windows Vista26
My Windows Movie Maker used to work fine, but now it crasheds EVERY time I

try to import a movie file. It imports still pics from the same source folder

OK.

Been to Microsoft's Knowledge Base but the only reference there for "WMM

Stopped Working" relates to WMM failing to start.

Have yu recently installed and/or modified your CODEC installations? Bad

codecs is often a cause for crashes with Windows Movie Maker and Windows

DVD Maker.

If possible, use a program such as WinAVI or Windows Media Encoder to

convert your movies to Windows Media first.

Re:"Windows Movie Maker has Stopped Working" when I try to import mov

Thank you Mary.

That looks like a really interesting site. I haven't had time to read it all

yet, but what I have read so far is making me feel optimistic about solving

my problem.

Just in case it doesn't, is there a simple way to uninstall WMM and then

reinstall it, or is a full Vista Re-install required ?

Regards

Graham

PS I rated your reply, but nothing seems to have happened as a result.

What's the fault bucket data for this crash:

?

Speaking for myself only.

See zachd.com/pss/pss.html" >zachd.com/pss/pss.html for some helpful WMP info.
