Re:Recycle Bin won't stop dumping itself

If you right click it and chose properties you can see if there is a tick in

auto empty or not.

Do not move files, immediately delete is NOT checked.

It's NOT? NO! Why is it NOT?

(Check it, click OK, go back in, uncheck... pray for a miracle)

Re:Recycle Bin won't stop dumping itself

Nope, nothing's working. I'll never touch another optimizing program again.

The Recycle Bin empties itself even though the "immediately delete" under

Properties is NOT checked. The Temporary Internet Files dump themselves

though it's not supposed to, and History disappears though it's supposed to

be saved 20 days.

... Heavy sigh ...

Anyone else have an idea, other than throwing the computer in the pond,

'cause I thought of that ...

Re:Recycle Bin won't stop dumping itself

What optimising program?

Try a system Restore. Start>Programs>Accessories>System Tools>System Restore.

Also, download a program called "Spybot Search & Destroy", do the updates on

it, then scan your computer if you have installed a "dodgy" program from

somewhere.

Re:Recycle Bin won't stop dumping itself

It was PC Pitstop.

Odd, I had NOT selected to make the changes,--and you have to pay for

changes, which I did not--but it made the changes anyway.

I'm cruising PC Pitstop's website for help as well.

Thanks for your time.

Re:Recycle Bin won't stop dumping itself

I did do a non-Destructive System Restore, but those changes are still there.

I'm trying to avoid a full wipe of the hard drive.
