How to go from Office 2007 back to Microsoft Word

Windows Vista23
I am doing a term paper (due today!!) that my teacher cannot receive in the

Office 2007 format but must be sent to be received by Microsoft Word ( it's

an online class). I've finished my paper and have until midnight tonight to

send it. Can I e-mail it to a friend who has Word and have them send it to my

teacher.

Any quick ideas are appreciated.

then e-mail as required

your teacher,to be able to read word 2007 documents can download from this

Go to the 'save as' function in Word 2007 and select '97-2003' format. Save

your work and then e-mail it..

Re:How to go from Office 2007 back to Microsoft Word

In Microsoft Word 2007, click the Office Button, select the Save As option

and from the revealed list, choose the Microsoft Word 97 to 2003 option to

maintain compatibility. You can also set these defaults in the Word Options

if you share files with persons still running older versions of Microsoft

Office.

Mike,

I'm a little confused..I'm working in the Vista program in what is

called Microsoft Office 2007 in the Microsoft Works Word Processor....there

is no Word 2007. When I go to Office 2007 and hit the "save as" function,

there is no "97-2003" format to choose. Am I doing something wrong or looking

in the wrong area?

Andre,

I'm a bit confused. I don't have Word 2007 I don't think. I am

in the Vista system, going through Microsoft Office2007 in their Works word

processor. The "save as" option doesn't give me the option of Microsoft Word

97 to 2003.

Re:How to go from Office 2007 back to Microsoft Word

Regarding "...in their Works word processor..." - Microsoft Works word

processsor is not identical to Microsoft Office 2007 Word.

If you are using Works there is no option to save in Word 97/2003 format.

However if you are using Microsoft Office 2007 Word you must download the

add-in utility which provides for the conversion from the Office site.

You are using Microsoft Works, which is a poor relation of Micrsoft Office.

Why don't you use Open Office?

Someone here will have the URL.

Ron, I'm afraid that you're more than a little confused. Let me try to

clarify some things.

First, note that whatever program you are running, it's not a *Vista*

program. It's simply a program that runs under Windows. It can run

under Vista, but it undoubtedly can run under Windows XP too. It may

have come with your computer, but it is *not* part of Vista.

Second, Microsoft Office 2007 is not part of the Microsoft Works Word

Processor. They are two different things. Microsoft Office 2007 is the

latest version of Microsoft's flagship office suite, and Microsoft

Works is, by comparison, a much more primitive and less capable set of

programs that do similar things (it includes a word processor). So in

general, those with lesser needs might get Works, because it's

cheaper, and those who want all the bells and whistles spring for the

considerably more expensive Office. Although it's possible that you

have both, it's unlikely, since Office can do everything Works does

and more.

Regarding your sentence "When I go to Office 2007 and hit the "save

as" function, there is no "97-2003" format to choose," note that you

can't literally go to Office 2007. Office 2007 is a suite of programs,

not a program itself. The programs that make up Office 2007 (depending

on what version you have) are Word 2007, Excel 2007, PowerPoint 2007,

etc. You have to go to "save as" in one of those programs, presumably

Word 2007, if that's what you have.

Alternatively if you are actually running Microsoft Works, rather than

Office 2007, you should save the document as an rtf file. Your teacher

should be able to read it in Microsoft Word.

For more help, please clarify exactly what program you are using.

Works is not the same as MS Office. In this situation your

quickest/fastest solution is probably going to be to download and install

OpenOffice.org and use it to save in an appropriate format - if it will

import what you have - I'm not sure on that, but you might try an rtf

format if works will export that. Good Luck.

-

Re:How to go from Office 2007 back to Microsoft Word

Ok, then try saving in RTF format.
