Windows Vista >> Vista x64 Lock up, after clean install Hi,
I have just installed Vista x64 Ultimate on the following hardware:

Maxtor 6Y120M0 SATA disk.
Asus M2N32 - SLI Deluxe mboard
Corsair CM2X1024-6400 (DR2 400Mhz) Ram
AMD Athlon 64 x2 5000+
MSI 8800GT Zilent

I have tried other hardisks, and all combinations of RAM in all slots, but
Vista still locks up after a seemingly random period of time. The lock ups
occur with a fresh install (with no other software installed), and sp1 has no
effect. The starnge thing is XP (both x64 and x32) work perfectly fine.

Where would I be able to get support for this bug (I have Vista x64 Ultimate
OEM).

Cheers

Have you searched for the latest drivers for all your hardware?

I used the Vista drivers off the mboard CD. I've tried with default vista
display drivers and also every version of nvidia forceware drivers... no luck.

That's your first mistake. Most drivers supplied with motherboards are
long out of date. Go to your Mobo manufacturers web site and download
the latest drivers, just be careful to download 64-bit vista drivers,
not the 32-bit.

More than likely, once you get the latest chipset drivers for your mobo,
then the latest nVidia drivers should work fine.

Since you have the SP1 installed, you can use the free support, if you do
not find a resolution for this problem.

Vista Service Pack 1, Unlimited installation and compatibility support is
available at no charge until March 18, 2009.
