Vista Can't Log In - Credential Manager Server

Windows Vista23
I have recently purchase Vista (from XP) and am jointed to a Server 2003. I

am having trouble logging-in and when I attempted to log-in I got the

message, "The system can not access the Credential Manger Server". I tried

logging on with the local admin account, but it tells me it is disabled, and

I tried disconnecting the computer from the network and then trying to logon,

but I get the message, "The server is not responding properly. Verify that

the Credential Manager server is properly installed on the target server."

Can anyone help me out. I can't log in at all. Thanks.

Re:Vista Can't Log In - Credential Manager Server

Hi Kathy!

I don't want to assume but I will assume you upgraded your XP Pro

machine which was already talking to the Win 2003 Server and then you

upgraded to Vista? This error makes me think to check the 2003 server

and see if the Credential Manager Server service is started. I think

this is needed with Vista. You can find the services in windows 2003

Server by clicking Start>Run>services.msc then click ok.

Hope this helps!

Re:Vista Can't Log In - Credential Manager Server

Hi rajinisback,

I have been running Vista for a month now, without any problems (IT people

set it up for me). It was just yesterday that I received this message all of

a sudden. I went to services on the 2003 server - don't see Credential

Manager Server Services listed (assume it would be listed as

"Credential.....".). There are other people in my office running XP - same

server. Any other ideas?

Re:Vista Can't Log In - Credential Manager Server

Hi,

I just purchased HP Compaq 6510b (VISTA Business OEM). After using i

for two weeks, I could not suddenly login to Windows 2003 Domain (Coul

not Access Credential Manager). If I start in "safe mode with Networ

Support", I can login with network account. It seems to me that it'

some HP Service like fingerprint software or whatever. I a

investigating about.

"The Server is not responding properly. Verify that Credential Manager

Server is properly installed on the target server"

Ok this error is a software error which i found out the hard way. You

need to open HP ProtectTools Security manager Then through there

disable your Bio Finger scan cause all it does it cause a load of

drama's when dealing with windows Vista and server 03. I am fixing a HP

Compaq 6710b laptop and it worked for me gl to you all.
