Vista Backup - Indiviudal File

Windows Vista37
Ok I need to backup one database file daily, but I don't see that ability

with vista. Its either the whole pc or select types of files.

XP had this ability so what genius at microsoft thought this function wasn't

needed??????

I believe you could do this reliably with Acronis True Image, and you'd

have reliable whole system backups too instead of relying on the MS tool

which I don't trust, If only one file I guess you could use Task

Scheduler, which would be a lot better than nothing at all... errm it's

under accessories/system tools fro the programs menu.

Re:Vista Backup - Indiviudal File

Hey Brent,

If you are only going to backup one file, create a scheduled task to back it

up for you.

Re:Vista Backup - Indiviudal File

I use this. It works great. Create a job for each file or folder you want to

back up and place it on a schedule.

Re:Vista Backup - Indiviudal File

Copy or Xcopy or Robocopy

put the command in a batch file

schedule the batch file to run every day.

For single or a few files, I use Synctoy: tinyurl.com/7dlru" >tinyurl.com/7dlru

Re:Vista Backup - Indiviudal File

Synctop doesn't let me schedule backups.

Why did microsoft screw up something good? XP backup worked great, Vista

back sucks. In XP I could just backup my local profile, 15 GB. Now in Vista

I have to back up types of files, so now my backup is 40 GB.

Anyone out there beta testing Vista SP1? interested to see if this is fixed

in SP1.
