Where are the Desktop icons?
Windows Vista34
When I use Windows Explorer to look for Desktop icons in Vista Home Premium, I can't find a Desktop folder in the C:/Users/Public folder, even though the properties on the icon I'm looking for says that this is where it is located. Is there some new twist from XP that I've missed that hides these files? - |

Re:Where are the Desktop icons?
Hi,
It should be C:\Users\Public\Desktop, but you may need to set folder options to view hidden and system folders. Have you tried simply typing it into the address bar? -- Best of Luck, Rick Rogers, aka "Nutcase" - Microsoft MVP mvp.support.microsoft.com/" >mvp.support.microsoft.com/ Windows help - www.rickrogers.org My thoughts rick-mvp.blogspot.com" >rick-mvp.blogspot.com "BRod" <BRod@discussions.microsoft.com>wrote in message QuoteWhen I use Windows Explorer to look for Desktop icons in Vista Home |

I thought Desktop was at the top of the tree. On my Vista I see Desktop
and all the icons, then Computer and after that c:\ and the other drives. I have my explorer set to classic view. "BRod" <BRod@discussions.microsoft.com>wrote in message QuoteWhen I use Windows Explorer to look for Desktop icons in Vista Home |

You are not gonna find one because there is no such account as Public, the

Re:Where are the Desktop icons?Does any one know why an icon suddenly disappears? That happen on my wife's desktop to the Firefox icon. Can't seem to get it back, even though it works fine on my desktop (we share a computer). BTW, already tried "change Icons" in the properties dialog box, no luck. -- Nator1 - |

Re:Where are the Desktop icons?
Hi Robin,
The special properties of the Desktop folder allow it to be shown at the top of the folder tree, but its actual location for each user is C:\Users\<user>\desktop. -- Best of Luck, Rick Rogers, aka "Nutcase" - Microsoft MVP mvp.support.microsoft.com/" >mvp.support.microsoft.com/ Windows help - www.rickrogers.org My thoughts rick-mvp.blogspot.com" >rick-mvp.blogspot.com "Robin" <greetings@html.com>wrote in message Quote

Hi,
Cute... No, likely you are just not downloading enough headers. -- Best of Luck, Rick Rogers, aka "Nutcase" - Microsoft MVP mvp.support.microsoft.com/" >mvp.support.microsoft.com/ Windows help - www.rickrogers.org My thoughts rick-mvp.blogspot.com" >rick-mvp.blogspot.com "Robin" <greetings@html.com>wrote in message Quotemy last message posted but not the other 2. I think they all download automatically when I refresh? Sometimes I reply
to sender by mistake instead of replay to group but it wasn't the case this time because I checked my sent folder. "Rick Rogers" <rick@mvps.org>wrote in message QuoteHi, |

Re:Where are the Desktop icons?
Hi Robin,
Since you're using Windows Mail, simply click tools/options and on the read tab uncheck the line for "get xxx headers at a time". This will allow the system to download all available messages. -- Best of Luck, Rick Rogers, aka "Nutcase" - Microsoft MVP mvp.support.microsoft.com/" >mvp.support.microsoft.com/ Windows help - www.rickrogers.org My thoughts rick-mvp.blogspot.com" >rick-mvp.blogspot.com "Robin" <greetings@html.com>wrote in message QuoteI think they all download automatically when I refresh? Re:Where are the Desktop icons?
Doesn't it tell me on the info bar at the bottom if I have headers not
downloaded? I've noticed if I have too many unread messages I have to click catchup to download all? "Rick Rogers" <rick@mvps.org>wrote in message QuoteHi Robin, |

Re:Where are the Desktop icons?
Hi Robin,
Only if it has synchronized, and it's not always accurate. Using catch-up just marks the downloaded ones as read and clears the synching queue. -- Best of Luck, Rick Rogers, aka "Nutcase" - Microsoft MVP mvp.support.microsoft.com/" >mvp.support.microsoft.com/ Windows help - www.rickrogers.org My thoughts rick-mvp.blogspot.com" >rick-mvp.blogspot.com "Robin" <greetings@html.com>wrote in message QuoteDoesn't it tell me on the info bar at the bottom if I have headers not |
