BSOD 0x0000007E Error

Windows Vista25
Ok I have recently upgraded to Vista and I now been greeted with the BSOD

Error Screen. Can anyone tell me what this code is telling me the problem is?

0x0000007E (0xc0000005, 0x92D89498, 0x8B3CFBFC, 0x8B3CF8F8)

WUSB54GCx86.sys- Address 92D89498 base at 92D7c000, Datestamp 45c04cc9

I was wondering what this error means and I was wondering if it means

anything that WUSB54GC is my wireless adapter, is the software/hardware issue

with my Adapter?

Re:BSOD 0x0000007E Error

Hi,

You're right on target. The file is a driver for your wireless USB adapter.

You may need an updated one from the manufacturer as this one is apparently

not Vista compliant.

Re:BSOD 0x0000007E Error

Wow Thanks. Its funny how one little thing can cause such a mess. I mean

everytime I called any of the support lines they would tell me the same line

'Reinstall Vista and check each of my video cards and memory sticks', It

would have never fixed the problem.

Re:BSOD 0x0000007E Error

I got off the phone with a Linksys represenative and although he checked a

lot of things I didn't feel very comfortable, so thing I got to thinking and

really this doesn't make any sense. WUSB54GC is a Compact Wireless G Adapter

which would be the correct name for a driver that is not made for Vista but

that isn't the name of the driver that is malfunctioning the name is

WUSB54GCx86. I was looking in the driver folders and the newest one from

linksys for VIsta is WUSB54GC_v3.0.1.0\VISTAX86. The driver malfunctioning is

the most recent one so I have no idea what to do now.

Re:BSOD 0x0000007E Error

Hi,

Check the properties of the adapter in device manager, and see what driver

is in use. You may need to simply point it to another one. There is also the

possibility that this is the right driver file, but it is corrupted in some

fashion and needs to be replaced.
