Internet Explorer / IE >> Useragent string problem.

IE 6 in Windows XP SP2 here. The office update and other Microsoft sites
don't load properly and I have narrowed it to what seems like a userAgent
issue. when I get the userAgent string with Javascript (using
javascript:alert(navigator.userAgent)), all I get is Mozilla/4.0
(compatible;MSIE 6.0). No mention of a platform and I believe that's why
these sites are not working.

I have tried creating the keys described here:
http://www.hide-link.com/
to no avail.

Anyone ever seen this issue? How can I correct the user agent string so
these sites work properly? Thanks in advance.

Internet Explorer / IE >> Useragent string problem. All,

Turns out it seems that the existing user agent string was too long. It
contained a bunch of redundancy that I trimmed out while retaining the
important info and the site in question started to deliver the right content
to the browser. Thanks.

David.
