What does the "Unlock Toolbars" option do?

Internet Explorer55
I "unlocked" the toolbars, but still can't move anything.

So just what is this option for?

It seems that none of the previously customizable options, we all had in IE

6, are in IE 7.

Why?

And why are the controls scattered all over the landscape?

Why can't they be moved into one place, so they are easily accessible, and

easily arranged, in a logical manner?

Is it true that a bunch of teenagers, on crack, designed this poor excuse

for an interface?

Microsoft ! GIVE US THE IE 6 INTERFACE BACK, AND TAKE THIS PIECE OF CRAP,

AND BURY IT.

Or at the very least, allow us to customize the interface.

This sucks, big time.

Re:What does the "Unlock Toolbars" option do?

IE7 is based on the Vista Design Guidelines. The Base Code for IE7 is the

same in XP and Vista. If you move up to Vista you will find that IE7 for XP

is a preview of Vista.

Re:What does the "Unlock Toolbars" option do?

Well I guess that means I won't be moving UP to Vista then.

If IE 7 is any indication of how bad Vista is going to be, I think I'll just

stay with what I got.

I've seen a lot of crap come out of Redmond over the last 15 years, but this

is the most unintuitive, user unfriendly, piece of BS I've ever tried to use.

I know good help is hard to get, but you would think that the richest guy in

the world could use a fraction of that wealth to attract some of the most

talented people around.

It's obvious that his best help didn't put this interface together.

That must have been left up to the janitorial staff, while they were all

gone on vacation.

Maybe Bill had some kind of quota system to fill. Janitors

shouldn't be discriminated against, just because they aren't qualified

for programming jobs.

Non-computer nerd user of IE6.

If you don't like Internet Explorer 7, and want to go back to IE6,

go to Start>Settings>Control Panel>Add or Remove Programs.

Find Windows Internet Explorer 7, highlight it, and click "Remove".

That will take you back to IE6. The roll-back process worked

perfectly for me, for which I am grateful to Microsoft.

I tried it myself, and it appears that it lets you move around the Menu bar,

the Command bar (with the Print, copy, paste buttons), and my Norton Internet

Security bar. Don't work with the Favorites stars and Refresh/Stop and

Back/Forward though...

That's the million-dollar question! I'm still trying to figure out why the

programmers made the buttons SO DARN SMALL! I have a 17" BrightView HD

widescreen display and it's set to the max resolution.

I'm inclined towards the cybernetic space zombies-controlled unimatrix d-)
