Internet Explorer / IE >> I.E. 7 automatically loads in UTF-8 code

Since a few days websites do not display characters like é or ï or " as they
should.

My browser now always starts up with UTF-8 encoding, and even if I change to
Western European Windows it keeps on resetting to UTF-8 each time I start
I.E. again.

How do I remove UTF-8 from the encoding options menu or completely disable
it? Or else how do I prevent it from automatically resetting to UTF-8 all the
time?

Altering the options in the options-advanced tab doesn't work.

I don't know why it started, I don't remember changing anything myself.

Internet Explorer / IE >> I.E. 7 automatically loads in UTF-8 code Also, unchecking "autoselect" doesn't work.

Any idea how I can actually remove UTF-8 from the menu? It seems I need some
drastic measure here.
