Internet Explorer / IE >> IE7 Bugs! IE7 icon appear & block my default CD-ROM files Icon

Hi,

Recently, I reformatted & reintalled my computer due systems performed poorly.

needless to say, I update my drivers 1st before online update my XP pro
xp2;ie chipset, system bios etc

My problem occurred when I run and install windows update.
The problem causing me to view disc file icon whenever I insert any discs to
my CD-ROM drives. All IE7 icons appearing to block all my icons all over my
disc files.

I noticing this could be cause by IE7 so I un/install it again but it won't
help.
IE7 official sites had several platform for XP base user and I tried all but
not x86 version.

The STRANGE things is, IE 6 got no problem when I insert any disc into CD-ROM.

I tried kinds of method but no avail; TweakUI rebuilt Icon, run Norton
Antivirus, undate my MSconfig and run check to see any suspicious start-up
item..., uninstall and rollback my CD-ROM driver.

Pls cut & paste your IE to view yahoo photo album of the screen shot.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I can't think of any software conflict may cause these cos I always have a
habit to install drivers 1st, follow by that is Windows update, norton
antivirus.
I'll restart and check any problem if no then I proceed to install software.

Once my problem occured, I continued installing ;
Java 6
nero 7
acrobat 8
Ccleaner
winrar
powerISO
Msn
universe video/music codec

Can anyone tell me anyway to configure between the IE7 and my CD-rom drive?
Or any command to identify the CD-Rom untility, reset etc.

Thank and appreciate any of you who reach your helping hand.

Internet Explorer8

Tom

Internet Explorer / IE >> IE7 Bugs! IE7 icon appear & block my default CD-ROM files Icon I have the exact same problem but I did not reload my system or
reformat/reinstall anything. Right after I updated my IE to IE7 all the
icons displayed on any CD placed in my CD ROM has the IE7 icon. Pretty
annoying. I'm hoping someone will have some insight.

Internet Explorer / IE >> IE7 Bugs! IE7 icon appear & block my default CD-ROM files Icon Hola,
i had the same problem and found this solucion ( sorry my enlish is...).
right click on desktop > appearance > effects > unmark: use large icons! >
OK..
or: right click on desktop > appearance > extended > select:Icons > change
size of Icons from 48 to 47 > Ok..
Repeat for all user. After new login the icons on CD are OK.
The bug is caused by IE 7 and is only when you use large icons (size 48 ).
hope it helps

Internet Explorer / IE >> IE7 Bugs! IE7 icon appear & block my default CD-ROM files Icon Thank you.

Anyway, I already found another solution to this but I don't know is it
suitable for the rest of people here who also facing the same problem as,
like TOM here.

I switch off my Notebook, I remove my battery 1st (important) and I open up
my RAM socket.

I saw two slot with 2 RAM then I swap the RAM and start-up my computer.

There is error message show memory fail and couldn't startup window so I
switch off again.

I swap back the original position of my RAM and startup my computer.

And it work fine, with this solution I actually reset the flash memory.

Hope people here can try out this method or guayba.
