I have searched the web high and low and have not found a way to
customize the local dnserror.htm to something more explanatory. We have
some internet kiosks that run in full screen mode and we would like
to have a custom dnserror.htm file in case the connection goes down. We
would like to either put a refresh button onto the page or place a meta
refresh tag into the page so that it tries to refresh every so often
until the connection comes back up. So far we have found that the
dnserror.htm file appears to be created by shdoclc.dll and we have used
Visual Studio to open the DLL file and modify the dnserror.htm that is
in the DLL. We then replaced the DLL file in both the system32 folder
and the dllcache so that System File Protection does not over-write the
file, and yet we still get the standard MS dnserror.htm page. We
verified that our modified dll file is still in place and the
modifications are still intact, however it still shows the default
dnserror.htm. Is there ANY way that this can be modified??? Thanks in
advance.
