Internet Explorer / IE >> Google Desktop opens new window instead of new tab
Hello, as stated in the Subject, when I use Google Desktop (version I just
downloaded yesterday) and Internet Explorer 7, Google Desktop opens up a new
window instead of opening a new tab.
I have Tabbed Browsing enabled, and opening up a website from the Run box
(e.g., Start->Run->www.microsoft.com) opens up a new tab in my current
Internet Explorer window. I have "Open links from other programs in:" set to
"A new tab in the current window." In the Registry, ShortcutBehavior
correctly reflects this as "1."
Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Jim,
I do not believe you will be able to get Google Desktop to open in a tab. It
is designed to be a separate application. When you open Google Desktop
essentially you are running a separate program.

Thanks for your response. However, the language in the option, i.e., "Open
links from other programs," refers specifically to separate application.
Also, links from Outlook and from a 3rd-party software called Mr Questionman
open in a new window. However, maybe this means I should take my concern up
at the Google forums.

Yes, you should. Google toolbar and desktop search do have known issues
with IE7.
