Internet Explorer / IE >> User interface

So I read that you wish to maximize screen real estate usage for the web page
and minimize the user interface. Well you did a terrible job. I have an
addres bar that is 1061x21 in pixels and I can't figure out how to move it
onto the command bar or menu bar, or even just shrink it. I have more than
1000x50 in wasted pixels. My refresh and stop buttons are no where near my
forward and back buttons, and I have a stupid search bar that I don't even
need. And since I like to have the Menu Bar displayed, the only button I
need from my command bar is the home button.

So I realize that you believe you made the user interface the best for the
most users, but you need to make it customizable for people who like their
interfaces neat, tidy, and compact.

My suggestion for the user interface is:
1) Menu Bar on top and defaulted to shown.
2) Any number of customizable command bars below that.
3) Command bars should be able to have stop, refresh, back, forward, and the
address bar added to them.

Thanks for any consideration you give to this.

Internet Explorer / IE >> User interface I agree the UI in IE7 is horrible. From what I understand Vista and Office
2007 are pretty much the same with their limited customizability options.
Apparently Microsoft has decided they know what's best for all of us. My
advice: uninstall IE7 and revert back to IE6 then download Firefox, it blows
their latest away in almost every feature.

Internet Explorer / IE >> User interface Hi,
You may like to try the Quero toolbar with IE7
http://www.quero.at
It offers some customization of the IE7 toolbar.

Regards.

Or even better, leave IE7 installed and then download Opera. The improved
security of IE7 will be used by other Microsoft and non-Microsoft
applications that use IE7 to display HTML even if you only ever use Opera or
Firefox. You should read the Firefox Myths page at
http://mywebpages.comcast.net/SupportCD/FirefoxMyths.html to make sure you
are choosing Firefox for the right reasons and not because of hype.
According to this page, Opera is currently the fastest, most secure web
browser and it passes the Acid2 test whereas Firefox 2.0 does not. Also,
Opera had tabbed browsing back in 1994 way before Firefox did.

I looked at Opera a long time ago, but back then they didn't have all the
plug-ins like Q-time, Real-P, Flash and such.

I assume times have changed and all of those are now available?
