Internet Explorer / IE >> Tools icon So How Did I Get Infected Anyway?
For quite a few people it's by installing Messenger Plus, whose default
install is loaded with malware. See also:

Don't ever do a "default" install of anything. Always choose Custom and see
what else is being carried along.

Internet Explorer / IE >> Tools icon It has to do with the fact that something put this on their without your
knowledge, and probably without your direct permission. A lot of people are
getting this from some program, could be adware/spyware, could be something
you installed and they didn't tell you it came along for the ride. Read the
articles and see if any of these apply to you.
