Internet Explorer / IE >> Way to make links open in new tab by default

Is there a a way to make links clicked in IE which would normally open in a
new window do this? I realize I can right click>open in new tab, but this is
a little inconvenient.

Thanks.

P.S. Another question: Did IE7 get rid of the 'ctrl' hot key to allow
pop-ups? I had to manually click through the menu to 'temporarily allow
pop-ups' to post this, when normally I just hit ctrl.

Internet Explorer / IE >> Way to make links open in new tab by default Hi Fusla,

Tabbed browsing is an option in IE7 and also some links on web pages are
designed NOT to open in a new window (eg. _self, _top). So given all the
possibilities, trying to enforce opening ALL links in new tabs is not realy
an option.

Regards.

Internet Explorer / IE >> Way to make links open in new tab by default Thanks for your reply Rob.

I realize that not all links are designed to open in new windows or tabs.
Doing so would make web browsing ridiculous. However, as you pointed out,
some links ARE designed to open in new windows. My question was, is there a
way to make those kinds of links open in new tabs by default instead of new
windows.

Judging by your answer, there is not. Although, I disagree that adding this
option would not be functional and/or useful for a lot of users.

Thanks again.

Internet Explorer / IE >> Way to make links open in new tab by default Hi,
I get mostly new tabs instead of new windows with these settings in Internet
Options> General> Tabs> Settings:
* Always open pop-ups in a new tab
* Open links from other programs in a new tab

Q.2. (From IE Help) Try Ctrl+Alt instead of Ctrl to allow a pop-up.

Hope this helps,
