Internet Explorer / IE >> IE7 displays blank page when clicking on PDF link

I have the full version of Acrobat 5.0 installed. Since I upgraded from IE6
to IE7 (release version), I can no longer view PDF files from within the
browser. Instead, I must right-click on the link, download the file, and view
it using the full version of Acrobat. I tried reinstalling Acrobat but to no
avail. I fear that installing Acrobat Reader 8 would create problems with the
full version of Acrobat 5.0; am I right? Could it be that the problem could
only be solved by installing Acrobat 7 or 8, and that previous versions do
not interact correctly with IE7? It would be very disappointing if Microsoft
forced people to upgrade Acrobat just to keep using a facility that has
worked perfectly for years. I have read that fiddling with the "Display in
browser" option in Acrobat would fix things, but it does not. Thanks in
advance for any help.

Internet Explorer / IE >> IE7 displays blank page when clicking on PDF link I have the same problem when clicking on mpg and wav files, but avi, wav &
pdf files work like always.

My version of IE7 is 7.0.5730.11. I also have both Adobe Pro 7.0.8 and
Reader 7.0.7 installed too though.

Internet Explorer / IE >> IE7 displays blank page when clicking on PDF link I just had the same problem with a PDF file from the Photoshoptv.com site. I
removed acrobat reader (the most recent I thought) from the Control>Add
Remove programs and then downloaded a new one from adobe.com. Lo and behold,
it worked. Now the PDF file shows up. Both readers were the same version
7.0.8, so who knows what IE7 is doing. Other info I received when I
originally clicked on the PDF file was an error message saying the an add-on
wasn't working properly.

Internet Explorer / IE >> IE7 displays blank page when clicking on PDF link Solved my problem by biting the bullet and upgrading to Media Player 11. Now
when clicking on web links for mpg and wav files they open correctly (in
media player instead of a blank IE7 page).

Internet Explorer / IE >> IE7 displays blank page when clicking on PDF link Yesterday, for some reason, I clicked on a PDF link and everything worked as
expected for the first time with IE7. I thought that it was because I had
already loaded the full version of Acrobat 5.0.5 some time before. So, first
thing this morning, I clicked on a PDF link just after having opened my
browser and things worked perfectly once more. I believe that I had visited
Options | Advanced | Restore advanced settings... the day before, and this is
what may have restored the functionality. Since clicking on this option is a
blanket authorization for IE to change settings, I have no real idea of what
exactly brought things back to normal.
