Internet Explorer / IE >> Internet Explorer 7 start

When I click on the IE7 icon on my desktop I always get two instances of the
IE window. The first one will always be blank and the second one goes ahead
and loads my homepage. This also occurs when I click on any internet link in
a file, in an email, anywhere. The first page will pop up and remain blank
while a second instance will load whatever the link is pointing at. I'm
using XP Home Edition SP2. I've experimented with several internet option
settings and nothing seems to change this behavior. Any advice would be
appreciated.

What if you right click the IE icon on the desktop and choose Start Without
Add-ons?
Or go to Start | All Programs | Accessories | System Tools | Internet
Explorer (No Add-ons).

Internet Explorer / IE >> Internet Explorer 7 start That didn't work. I uninstalled IE7 and re-installed it. That still didn't
clear up the problem. I had Google as my default search tool and oddly
enough, when I changed that to Windows Live Search, the problem went away.
Too wierd. I went back to Google as my search tool and there goes the extra
blank IE7 page. Back to Windows Live Search and I guess I'll just use it.
Thanks!

Tom

Internet Explorer / IE >> Internet Explorer 7 start I have this exact same problem. Changing my default search did not
fix it. The double window does not appear when I click on the IE 7
icon on my desktop. But it does appear when I click on any link
anywhere else. It becomes bothersome because it seems to interfere
with some webpages. Some travel or banking sites have a small
calendar link for a person to click and then navigate to a specific
date so you don't have to type in a date in the proper format. These
small calendars do not work on my internet explorer 7. The first
blank internet page opens, then the calendar page opens very large and
I get an "error on page". No amount of clicking will select a date.
One thing I noticed is the initial internet page that opens is in the
IE 6 format with the IE 6 tools bars and icons. When I look at About
Internet Explorer it claims to be IE 7 but it looks like IE 6. I've
turned off all the available add-ons and ActiveX items. I still get
the two windows. This is on Windows XP HOme Edition SP 2.
