Internet Explorer / IE >> IE Closes on Its Own

IE 6. A user on a laptop reports that he brings IE up, it just about
finishes loading the home page (we have tried various home pages), the bottom
status line says, "Done," then IE closes itself. We cannot seem to get
beyond this point. What could be causing this? How could I fix it? Thanks
for the help.

The user might be infested with malware.
