Internet Explorer / IE >> PDF

Why does any PDF doc opened in IE only stay visible for 2 seconds? If I click
refresh, the PDF will appear again, but only for two seconds - then I'm left
with a blank screen for that tab.
Firefox handles the same PDFs perfectly.
