Audio distortion in all WMP 9 playback

Media Player125
I am running WMP 9 on XP home and this problem started about 6 months ago.

Whenever I play any audio through WMP, I hear a buzz/harmonic distortion in

the audio, especially noticable in the bass range. It only occurs while audio

is playing, not constantly. I thought either my speakers or audio card

started going bad, but this does not happen when I play audio through any

other type of media player. I even tried to search for more current drivers,

but if I recall, there were none more current than what I have.

Go to the menus, and show media player Enhancements ->Graphic

Equalizer. Turn that off, followed by the SRS/WOW settings and other

audio enhancements. And finally, search on your speakers for some sort

of bass boost button, and turn that off too.

Re:Audio distortion in all WMP 9 playback

Thanks for your reply Neil, however, I tried all those suggestions and I

still have the distortion. My speakers consist of a sub-woofer with 2

satellite tweeters. I have no "bass boost" function, only a bass level

adjustment. Even with the bass all the way down, I still have the distortion

in the satellite tweeters. My first thought was that my speakers were

starting to go, but the fact that I have no problems with any other media

player steered me away from that thinking. If you have any more thoughts, I'm

open to suggestions. Thanks.
